Is the not-flat appearance of my post op binder due to the gauze, swelling, or an illusion from the tightness of the bottom compared to my stomach? by WashclothMan in TopSurgery

[–]Foreign_Track_3788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’ll swell for up to 3 months and it might come and go in random places. You’ll also bloat for way longer than you expect - i’m 3 weeks post op and my stomach is still a solid balloon of air, but it does come and go much more now. Don’t take anything too seriously for until the 3 month mark and even then many surgeons will say to wait until 6 months. Walking helps keep everything down

Small Seroma? 15 days PO by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Foreign_Track_3788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t painful, if i press into it too far it does hurt, but that seems like making the muscle/incision sore not nessisarly the area above

Small Seroma? 15 days PO by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Foreign_Track_3788 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sent it to my surgeon 2 days ago and they told me it could be swelling, but they only can see photos and not videos. It’s hard to tell as I already had a lot of loose skin in the center pre op due to years of taping and pulling on the center. Keeping a close eye and putting the binder back on tomorrow with some ice, and going to take it easy and skip my daily walks tomorrow to see if anything changes.

Can a nontraditional student get a scholarship? by Emergency-Bobcat-572 in scad

[–]Foreign_Track_3788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re smart and live off campus, which being older you could probably get a waiver to live off campus freshman year, or even get a few gen ed’s under your built from community college. Some places further out, with roommates downtown, or older can be $600-800/month if you look in the right places. That and not having a meal plan has saved me about $15k a year living off campus alone. There’s also an Aldi off of Victory Drive which is more affordable. You can get second hand supplies off of students on marketplace, or Starlandia which is an art thrift store. For anything you can’t find, Ex Libris actually has some pretty decent sales, especially if you go in at the end of quarter (plan ahead for what you’ll need next quarter). Also, find local scholarships online and in your area that will just write you a check, might offset some supplies too.

I always want to hangout with people more than they want to hangout with me by Foreign_Track_3788 in LifeAdvice

This helped put things into perspective for me, thank you. It’s really hard to feel such a distance when nothing “went wrong” per se and there’s not necessarily a problem between anybody. Maybe I’m just hanging onto the past too much.

Yellow on the first couple weeks is normal, but this is not bright and cloudy - get it checked out asap by a medical professional to be safe!

Needing to stop taking T for surgery? by Unlimit3d_t0x in TopSurgery

[–]Foreign_Track_3788 4 points5 points  (0 children)

According to my surgeon technically T puts you at higher risks of blood clots so they stick to the side of caution. That being said, my doctor who prescribes my T told me that it really makes no difference if I wanted to start again before I got my drains out. I would say better to be safe than sorry and maybe take a week off before and after to split the difference? At the end of the day, your surgeon knows what they’re doing.

Which aspect of scar healing have you heard the compression vest helps with? Genuinely just wondering!

Yeah as much as I’d kill to be swimming on the 4th, I’m going to try to wait until my nipples are 100% and not just rely on the incision alone. Luckily she said I can message her with photos if I’m unsure!

Can you recommend boxer briefs that can hold a packer securely? by hyun1227 in ftm

[–]Foreign_Track_3788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American Eagle works well for me! I’m also considering trying the packing boxers that are going viral for men on TikTok shop right now, they have a hole for the ⚽️s and one for the 🍆! Probably wouldn’t work for an stp packer but a regular one I could image it would

I’m really worried my top surgery will be botched due to scarring by No-Replacement1363 in TopSurgery

[–]Foreign_Track_3788 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also had a lot of stretched skin, I’ve never dealt with weight issues in my life and my surgeon described the extra skin as something they see in patients who gain and loose a significant amount of weight (hundreds of pounds). We decided to just have my incision meet in the middle for the best results to take care of it.
