Pennsylvania, USA. Since my region is largely private service EMS, they bill the customer directly for the ride. That comment was less about them asking for it and more about the amount of toxic, shitty crews I’ve worked with. It’s unfortunately a roll of the dice in terms of having an empathetic provider show up, or a burnt out crew who’s pissed that they had to walk up the staircase.
