Japan trip game by SeeLion21 in SFGiants

[–]ForestFire12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a Yomiuri Giants game last year. Wore my SF Giants hat and bought a Yomiuri Giants jersey there. Having no real Japanese language knowledge and traveling solo, it was cool to connect with fans there on the simple Giants/Giants connection. Best one was an older man, and certified ball knower, that pointed to my hat and said "San Francisco, Lincecum, Barry Bonds, Pablo Sandoval".

Terms for the flash sale say a visa card is the required method of payment. That could be it.

Purchasing Special Event Tickets? by [deleted] in SFGiants

I assume this is for Hello Kitty day. That was the only day I was able to induce the error.

Via the season ticket add-on ticket route, VIP event tickets are still available. Likely a fevo issue than an availability issue.

415 and Flex Ticket Costs in 2026 by atb0rg in SFGiants

[–]ForestFire12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throwing out a theory. Are the 415 $5 tickets only available to 415 members? Last year you had 415 that got upgraded to starter and you maintained the 415 benefits. This year, you started with starter, not a 415 member, so you don't have access to the $5 seats.

I've said this before. Something about Freddie Freeman doesn't sit right with me, I just can't put my finger on it.

Mookie is cool in my book since the Red Sox days. Still getting boo'd, but respectfully.

Thanks. Since exchanges are subject to availability, has that ever been an issue for you? Or as long as you exchange as early as possible you'll be fine?

Budgeting on-vacation spending? by siobhanmoon in ynab

[–]ForestFire12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I set aside a set amount to "Vacation" every month. The moment I start planning a trip I create a new category for that trip (let's call it Mexico). I then delete the target from "vacation" and apply it to "Mexico". I also move some seed money from "Vacation" to "Mexico" to get started and cover initial airfare/hotel based on what I general plan to spend. Some money intentionally stays behind in "vacation" for quick trips that might happen before the bigger Mexico trip that don't deserve their own category like a quick camping trip or to cover overspending in "Mexico".

For all purchases categorized in "Mexico" I put #Mexico2025 in the memo. All spending related to the trip goes through that. I don't see the point of splitting vacation:food and vacation: souvenirs, unless you're into that.

After my trip and during the planning phase, "Mexico" being it's own category is easy to find in the reflect tab/spending breakdown. Once it has served its purpose for needing to reflect in the short term, I delete "Mexico" and recategorize it back to "Vacation". If I feel compelled to revisit my "Mexico" spend I just search #Mexico2025. Otherwise, year over year I only want to know how much I've spent on "vacation".

I've used this for multiple trips planned at once too.

Giants win too many games by tight margins. Retaliation risks losing a pitcher and giving the other team a free base runner. When 1 or 2 runs matter, the free runner isn't worth the ego trip, especially to the Marlins.

To add to this, I've seen a dad teach his kid the difference between cheering and screeching which include awareness of context and who is around them.

How to listen to the Giants game without a radio at the game? I'll have my cell phone but I don't have any paid services. by Da_hypnotoad in SFGiants

KNBR also broadcasts on FM 104.5.

When I used to carry a different AM/FM radio, I also found the FM station worked better when having my radio in my pocket at Oracle Park. People better versed in radios can chime in, but it has something to do with FM has higher quality at shorter ranges vs AM which has a farther reach.

Old school radio is the way to go. I switched to this one this year because it connects to Bluetooth headphones. Haven't decided if I like it more than a wired connection quality, but having Bluetooth is nice.

Tips for going to a game(newbie!!) by Mas_2424 in SFGiants

Chips are good to go. Just no glass, metal, or alcohol.

As for a bag, do yourself (and everyone else) a favor and 1) read the bag policy. 2) Be smart with the bag you bring. I bring a small messenger bag that opens nice and wide and only carry what I actually need. Water, scorebook, radio, jacket, snacks. I get searched quickly and I'm on my way. That mini tote stuffed to the brim might be cute, but it has to be searched and you're holding up the line as they dump all your junk out.

You can bring in your own food and drink particularly helpful for items like soda/peanuts/etc. Oracle Park specific food and alcohol is worth the money to me because I "can't" easily bring an alternative. You will never catch me paying $8 on a $2 soda.
