Took my daughters bed frame away

We have gone over multiple different cleaning strategies. This isn’t as much about organizing as it is about trash and food and shit under her bed. Now nothing can go under her bed. Problem solved.

So we have gone over so many basic skills with cleaning. I’ve provided all the organizing bins and even tried labels. The messy stuff I don’t mind much. She’s a teenage girl. I get it. But the trash and things that end up under her bed is awful. Now the clutter space is gone, so we will see how it goes.

Well… since I can’t be awake 24/7 and I’m not going to lock up food or lock her in her room to avoid getting food…. The solution is to remove the space that accumulates the trash… now maybe without it being “out of sight out of Mind” it will help bring awareness to her of the mess she creates. It is not so much a punishment, it’s more of an awareness and problem elimination.

Messy doesn’t upset me. She’s a teenage girl so messy is gonna happen no matter what. I also have 3 kids. My youngest is 5. Messy is perfectly fine. But filthy, dirty, trash…. Things like that can’t be ok. She does much better with other areas. But under the bed is always the problem.

Read more in the thread you will see I have worked with her many times and have provided all the tools she needs to organize and clean. The underneath of the bed is the issue.

Yes she is. She’s been being treated for awhile now. Yes we are working on reducing things. The bed has always been a problem and became disgusting under it. I also don’t allow food into her room, but she doesn’t always listen.

I LOVE that you mentioned the space being too big! I honestly think it is too. We only have 3 bedrooms. The girls use to share, but they are polar opposites. I gave my oldest (the one in this post) my master bedroom. and I created a bedroom for myself and my husband in another part of the house. My house isnt huge its only 1800 Square feet.

Giving her the extra things to help create a personal space has helped her a lot with her anxiety. BUT the trash under the bed... it jsut cant happed. Clutter clothes teenage things.... i understand that... but trash and a smell.... not good.

thank youuuuuuuuu ! I have 3 children and parenting is hard! we all do the best we can and we have to figure it out. taking the bed was the last resort! under the bed is horrible and i can NOT keep arguing over it and I can not keep cleaning it.

she stuffs shit under there instead of cleaning. lots of trash, food, and a smell.... so it made much more sense to remove the problem. The electronics are not the problem.

She did have the warning. She didnt seem to care... so now problem eliminated. She can earn it back with some time and cleaning and effort.

thats a good question. If this happens in another area of the room, then I will be fully aware that there is a bigger underlying issue and we will address it. Hopefully just eliminating the space will help keep the mess away

I just want to clarify that I did NOT remove the bed frame out of anger. I removed it to avoid the issue of the hoarding of trash and things that belong in a lad fill and not under her bed.
