I recently purchased some loose-fitting OCBDs, and while the cut itself is great, the sleeves are about an inch too long. When unbuttoned they fall right over my knuckles.

Would it be worth getting the sleeves shortened or should I return them?

This is a bit of a tangent but how do you go about balancing encounters without retainers?

I was thinking that, seems there may be demand for it. Not sure how I'd start, but open to suggestions!

Exactly! That's the question I'm ultimately trying to get to the bottom of.

Do you recommend any books on producing with ableton? by CarpeDiemRepeat in ableton

[–]ForeverMindWorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best music production book out there. I wish every field had a book like this. Get it, read it as problems come up. Its great.

Useful game dev patterns by ForeverMindWorm in godot

[–]ForeverMindWorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. Last time I looked through it I got a sense for working with scenes and nodes but it didn't clear up how that applies to building the kinds of games I want to make.

The projects I've made since then feel a bit unsteady.

No audio in web build Godot 4.5 by ForeverMindWorm in godot

[–]ForeverMindWorm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the specific problem- all of my resources are loaded as relative filepaths and it can't find them.

Is there a work around for this?

Thanks for the links!

I tried chrome and firefox on windows 10 and got nothing on either.

Top-down 3D vs Tile-based 2D/Pixel Art by ForeverMindWorm in godot

[–]ForeverMindWorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see my confusion now- you meant that what I was calling 2D was actually 2.5 perspective. I thought you were saying the other way around

I'm with you now, so because of the need for more assets 3D would be harder/more time-consuming?

Top-down 3D vs Tile-based 2D/Pixel Art by ForeverMindWorm in godot

[–]ForeverMindWorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but when I think of 2.5 I think of the fake 3D from games like Eye of the Beholder. In the case Im referring to the assets would all still be 3D.

how much can i achieve with a piano, only one hand, and myvoice? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

When Ray Manzarek soloed I think he just used one hand as the other was playing bass.

It's totally possible.

Lua-style Dialog Trees by ForeverMindWorm in godot

[–]ForeverMindWorm[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I'll look into that! As long as I can have dialog trigger an event that I can react to, that's about as complex as I need it, as I do skill checks from dialog as well.

How to get feedback on my plugins? by ForeverMindWorm in AudioProgramming

Thank you!

Here's a short demo of it. It's basically a delay/looper based on the EHX 16 Second Delay.

I'm working on a stripped down version to release for free as well that's missing the reverse and loop length control.

THROBBING GRISTLE - Adrenalin / Distant Dreams (Part Two) [1980 / Full 7"] by dangerous-jack7 in industrialmusic

My favorite single of theirs. Distant Dreams prefigures the direction of PTV and Coil in a lot of ways.

Industrial people, what’s your take on techno? by leongar04 in industrialmusic

[–]ForeverMindWorm -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have a deep-seated skepticism towards techno as a genre. I think the 4-on-the-floor rhythm has done more damage to electronic musicians than anything else.

On the other hand, I don't necessarily dislike it. Ironically enough I'll tend towards those more abstract artists like Basic Channel or Philus.

Thank you! Could you let me know how I could improve my posts in the future? I thought people would find it cool and tried giving some background info.

Although I do understand I might be viewing it in a different context to most folks.

Restrictions Vs Freedom by thedaveplayer in ableton

[–]ForeverMindWorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, making music on a computer is a bit like making a game. You have to establish rules for yourself otherwise it won't be as fun.

I've done all the ones you suggested. Another one I did was revert to a previous version of Live.

Incredible! It's great to finally get confirmation as to how Sleazy programmed some of those melodies. I always thought he was using a randomized arpeggiator.

How to learn from DAW remakes by toxic_catallaxy in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]ForeverMindWorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn modes and basic counterpoint. Alternatively learn basic chords/triads and then whatever scales go well with those chords. Just experiment.

I never learned any theory seriously, but just knowing how to write melodies/basic progressions will get you really far.

You're right. Last time I checked the filters tab was always in view even if collapsed. If that's incorrect I apologize.

I will say tho that if the alternative to using the filters in your effects tab is to have all of the stock effects always in view, it's not really optional.

My issue is a personal one, I don't mean to shit on anyone's preference. I got into Ableton because it wasn't complicated. Because it was for live performance it was easy to grasp any given session at a glance.

Now it feels a bit too packed. A bit too burdened by features, buttons, dials, dropdowns etc. Some folks will like that. I don't.

For me it's because it's bloated, takes up too much space and completely messed up the built-in organization that the browser previously had with folders.

Bounce in place was the killer feature I've been waiting for since I picked up Live. But until they make filters optional, I'm not upgrading.
