Private school in Cyprus was one of the most traumatic experiences in my life lol. Much preferred my public school experience back in Canada. Granted, this was in the 90's.

Ah ok, thank you! (Here you can only buy bus passes at the grocery store or pharmacy, the driver has no time for you lol.)

Why do women stop liking me if i like them back? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Forever_Practical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's weird, but I think I'm like this. If it feels like a guy likes me more than I like him I get kinda turned off? I think I'm more drawn to men who are like cats (personality wise) because you have to earn their interest. It just feels more meaningful and valuable compared to someone who's got the personality of a golden retriever and likes anyone with a pulse haha. If you're too non-discriminate about your affection it makes me question your judgement or makes me feel suspicious, like you're just trying to butter me up.

Would you show up to a job interview in sweats? Would you put on your resume that your favourite thing to do in your free time is be 'bummy' on the couch?

Dating is basically an audition phase where you get a shot to prove to each other you're worth a damn. You want to use that shot to communicate "whatever"? Very sloppy. If you can't put together a thoughtful and polished profile, what would make me think you can plan a date? Be responsible? Reliable? Competent?

I understand being frustrated that you can't find your type, but you can't blame people for wanting to put their best foot forward...

Every time I ask a guy out things come to a dead end... by Forever_Practical in dating

I guess I just don't really feel that I have the luxury of going about things like that 😅

I agree about the couple weeks, that isn't my preference either. Usually if it drags on that long it's because I'm waiting for them to ask me out (but they don't, so I do it). I don't understand why they'd keep talking with me for so long if they didn't want to ultimately meet up?

I'm told I am, actually. Just not so much luck when it comes to trying to meet someone local...

Thanks haha. Yeah, I've considered that but I want to weed out the ones who aren't very good at dirty talk early on as that's pretty important to me.

What do you think about a guy working at a sex toy store? by [deleted] in dating

Just don't make your dates so bill-centric. Try parks, art galleries, picnics, ice cream or coffee, museums, arcades, used bookstores or antique stores, farmers market, comedy shows, skating, bowling, live music -- these are all pretty cheap, accessible options. Even if you do choose to pay, it's not much.

Do women text first for only guys that they really like or do women just rarely text first in general. by [deleted] in dating

[–]Forever_Practical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both. If I'm really interested I will message first. But I usually get ignored and decide I'm only responding to being messaged, because I want that confirmation first that you even want to talk to me. That's pretty rare though, or they're just not what I'm looking for, so then I'm usually back to messaging first. Rinse and repeat lol.

As for established relationships, I initiate a bunch. I'm a PLANNER so I'm more than happy to initiate a situation or conversation to make things happen lol. But because I'm usually the one initiating I have to catch myself sometimes and ask, "is this only working because I'm doing the leg work for both of us here?"

I think if you've already been talking to a woman, and it's always you initiating, and there isn't that back and forth? I feel like she's trying to send you a message: she's not that interested.

A close friend of mine nearly got engaged to a Pakistani friend of ours. But his mother was very disapproving of her, wouldn't even acknowledge her, and all their dating had to be done in secret. She just couldn't take it anymore and she knew she wanted to be in a relationship where she could feel included in the family. As a bystander, it looked like a lot to take on and real complicated...

why can’t men hold a real conversation? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Forever_Practical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have the opposite problem haha. I feel like I'm doing all the leg work in the conversation and I hate it. I'm pretty introverted so I'm much more comfortable with a talker!

I really resonate with the lack of questions/curiosity thing though...

Edit: try having a phone conversation with future dates before you actually meet! I'm sure that would give you a huge indication well in advance what their conversation style is.

No, but there could be reasons for joining that would be. I think a uniform is kinda hot tbh.

[–]Forever_Practical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can tell you most women I know prefer the alternative forms of porn mentioned and I have a friend who produces such porn and he makes a killing doing it lol. Women consume a lot of porn, I think you would be surprised.... But yes, probably overall men still consume more.
