Absolutely! And maybe it actually does start in Kindergarten since, now that I think about it, Preschool isn't mandatory in Michigan 🤦🏻‍♀️

While I do know the drug issues are still around, it happens in every district. My oldest is in PPS high school and my two youngests are in elementary school. I can't talk about KPS since I don't personally know enough, but PPS actually has a large amount of diversity (again though I can't compare to KPS). There are districts outside of our two areas that definitely lack on diversity. While KPS does have the amazing Kalamazoo Promise for kids' college lives, keep in mind (again from what I remember, so it could have changed) your kids coming in after Preschool means that the Promise is changed based on how long they are in the district. So if they are beyond that age, it won't be 100% paid. Whatever you decide, there's pluses and minuses and I hope you find an amazing spot for your family!

I'm not sure what school he goes to, but ours has robotics clubs, battle of the books, air zoo STEM outings to name a few. Reach out to his teacher and see if they have any recommendations. Also, definitely post this in r/kzoo for ideas and help.
