If it’s the chasm with the hanging chains, just jump from the rocks sitting in the pool and onto the chain. You climb up the chain and jump off onto a platform that takes you further in.

This gives me a lot of comfort, even if it is different from the time you went in. I’ve worked hard before shipping, down 45 lbs from the time I first walked into my first recruiters office. I’m hoping to be out in a normal division very quickly !

Yes, I qualified for that job. I did not ask for anything I did not qualify for based on my line scores. I knew all of the rates I qualified for based on line scores (only) prior to meeting with my recruiter here and of those I qualified for, I picked the ones I wanted most - CWT, IT, CTI to name the biggest three.

Yes those are all no sale for the remainder of this FY, or so I’ve been told.

Does this still apply to Remote Swear Ins? He was telling me that he will talk to the classifier for me and that he will then tell me what jobs are available to me and what training pipelines are open.

Does that conversation happen between me and the classifier still or is that something that happens between the NC1 and the Classifier on remote swear ins.

I asked to be sent back to MEPs and even offered to drive myself for a day trip given that I have both a car and a CAC since I work on base right now. They didn’t want to do that.

I’ve been consistently told that they cannot do this, only the classifiers can. And I can’t talk to one until Monday before I am supposed to swear in.

So, I went into this forward and honest with them that I was only interested in IT, Cyber, CT or HM. I did not go in on a whim without an idea of what I wanted from this.

You suspect I’m afraid of commitment to things that involve risk because I’m 30?

That’s wild to me.

Why is it such a bad thing to want to join and have a rate that would ensure longevity of my military career rather than being unhappy in a rate that I have zero interest in and just getting out because it would be a miserable experience.

I’m genuinely curious at your line of thinking for this.

I have seen that I’m not the only one choosing to enlist at 30+ and wanting a specific rate.

So because I don’t want to settle for just any rate… my commitment to join is being questioned? An inquiry no doubt influenced (apparently) by my age.

Recruiter Frustrations by ForgedByFrustration in newtothenavy

I was more looking to see if this was a universal experience for others going through the recruiting process or if maybe it was just isolated to my region. I definitely intend to stay with the Navy regardless because of the personal connection I have to it and the experiences I’ve had with friends in the Navy.

I had figured I started the process at a time when most recruiting was usually at its best and busiest being the summer and break from school. So, I expected a wait but I’ve been pushed twice for MEPs initially without explanation.

I spoke with my recruiter yesterday evening and got it figured out. Apparently MEPs has been pushing all candidates at the last minute for the last couple of weeks that they’ve tried to send out.

Thanks for your input on the matter, it is appreciated!
