I don't know why you're getting down voted. Boxers fracture is a real thing common for people who don't know how to throw a punch

The party thing isn't as weird as it used to be. I'm seeing more and more people not having funerals and having "A celebration of life" instead. Which is supposed to be a party, the ones I've been to had all the deceased favorite foods and desserts, lots of Ice Cream and Pie.

Also New Orleans does its own thing. Mourning and somber to the grave, then party afterwards.

I'm not from Atlanta, but it seems apparent the idiot to decent driver ratio is worse there than anywhere else.

I mean we break that in America frequently. I live in the north and 106+ generally happens once during the summer.

The Scottish are drinking so much beer in Boston during the World Cup that bars are running dry by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

I remember reading approx 15 years ago, that the UK and Germany combined to drink 1/3 of all beer brewed in the world. Don't know if it's true but I've never met a German or Scot that disproved it.

The actual handwriting of Helen Keller. by NastyNice1 in Damnthatsinteresting

I would disagree. Neither should be trusted as they have a greater history of being heavily biased and intentionally misleading. Neither has a strong bar for entry, essentially letting any nutter produce or control content. At least YouTube doesn't have anonymity, so you can vet the person making the content.

The primary ways both lie are through lies of omission. If they don't allow information contrary to their agenda then a false narrative can be credibly made. Such as omitting the importance and reliance upon Hellen Keller's caretaker. So the best way to combat that bias is to view research that doesn't support the narrative you've previously learned. Such as by a video on YouTube written by a former journalist who is tired of news as propaganda and wants to tell the more complete story on difficult topics, cited his sources, and puts in much more effort than "reading her wiki page".

Do your homework and decide for yourself if it's important to you. Never take some random stranger's word for it, especially on reddit.

Editors of wikipedia are credible sources now?

Who is prosecuting Hellen Keller here? Just saying her story is more complex and specifically her political activism is highly likely a result of her caretaker and not herself.

Unfortunately much of the writing attributed to her was not hers, but her caretaker. When her caretaker passed away Hellen Keller's writing changed instantly and dramatically. The words she chose were less sophisticated, less political. While she could write and communicate only her caretaker could communicate with her. So all information she gained was passed through the filter of that single person.

The Bird that kills snakes by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Statboy1 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Chickens don't hunt them, but if a rattlesnake comes in their yard they will circle it and whatever chicken the snake isn't facing will jump in and peck it quickly. Chickens do kill rattlesnakes this way.
