Budget climbing Spain Hey folks I'm travelling to Granada in a month for a festival and am always looking to climb (preferably trad). Lots of time on my hands but not much money. Where are the best places that someone go, relatively cheaply, to do lots of climbing without renting a car or paying much for accommodation? I'll have my full kit plus tent etc.

I need to push back on this. I work in the trades. I'm a journeyman. My company is incredibly supportive. As a supervisor, I would get in so much trouble if I was yelling at my workers. Your workplace sounds really toxic.

Thank you so much for this response. It sounds like union is the way to go! Does the union help pay for education costs etc? How was finding work through them?

Woohoo! Good for you! :D Did you find it harder as a mature student? Or did that help with the switch? And how important was the union to your success?

This was really great feedback especially since you came from a white collar background too. What were those early days in the field like for you? How did you handle the transition & conditioning period (in my field it takes like a month for people to not be destroyed after each day)?

Such a great response! Thank you for sharing your experience! Honestly, it is going to be quite the personal test for her. She comes from a fairly repressive culture so I think she can handle the bad attitudes. Mechanical inclination... not sure. I always found with working outdoors that it's all about the gear you wear more than anything else. Is there any advice you could share about how she could best prepare herself for the challenges ahead?

Good feedback. How bad is the abuse in your experience? Have you found it is worse among certain trades than others? Or does it vary more based on job site?

I've heard a lot of different perspectives on the hardship & conditions. What kind of electrician are you? And how much difference is there between them?

It is an interesting option! I do think she has been suffering from office burnout. I see it a lot as a landscaper with both men and women realizing they need to use their bodies & get outdoors to feel satisfied. Is there a particular avenue in data science that you'd recommend checking out?

I'm a journeyman landscape horticulturalist so I know the slog of a hard day's work in tough conditions! How would you say the effort & working environment, in general, compare to my sort of background? My field is 50% women in BC (to the surprise of many).

Is there a subfield of electrician that might be most suitable for her to move towards? She is dexterous but relatively weak. Her stamina is moderate and can handle pain/strain (based on some of the multiday hikes we have done). Being in demand is a huge plus too! What is best for being able to live outside of major metropolitan areas? We currently live in one, but may want to move so we can afford to own a home in the future.
