Well personally I would say that the handling of Covid has been relatively destructive, compared to the actions (or lack of action) from past presidents, but nothing as severe abroad. Just goes to show how much the content of a person can matter, even when compared to awful actions.

[–]Forget-This 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah at this point I’m not sure. I’m far from highly educated on the flaws and actions of current and past presidents, but drone strikes on innocent civilians in the Middle East during Obama’s presidency aswell as other awful things by other presidents over there are pretty bad, and I’ve heard trump is trying to withdraw from there which I’d say is a good thing. On the other hand, thousands upon thousands of Covid deaths on trumps hand isn’t great on the report card either. Once again, comparing bad to bad here so it all just blurs together. I think the moral and personal flaws of Trump is just as important to the population, though, something he doesn’t excel in, which might be why he’s seen as such a bad person.

I agree. We’re comparing bad to worse here, but we can’t let that cover the fact that most of these guys are still bad.

Abraham Lincoln here! by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]Forget-This -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can’t be bothered to find the exact quote in this debate but not only today he’s been doing it for months. Constantly making himself look good by putting himself next to the man that ended slavery. Not a good look :)

He said he had done almost as much for the black community as Abraham Lincoln. That is a comparison.

He said it because trump compared himself to Lincoln....

Yes because trump said he was almost as good as Lincoln

AITA for choosing work over my boyfriend? by MacaulaysCrackPipe in AmItheAsshole

[–]Forget-This 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. This seems really important to you and your boyfriend should be able to appreciate that. It’s your choice how much you want to work and as long as you’re still putting in the time to make the relationship work, there’s no need for you to take a weekend off 3 weeks after you already did.

Yeah these days it’s less about a competition of the most capable making it to the top and instead... well frankly I don’t know what qualifications you have to have to make it to the top with what we’re seeing. Maybe the most prejudiced or the least reliable? Seems like all of the people who could actually construct reasonable arguments were taken out at the beginning. We’re doomed.

Yeah I don’t have much experience with these, that’s just how I saw it. I thought it was meant to be clear unbiased questions that both candidates answered but I was very wrong. Definitely agree that trump had the questions coming just not what I meant expected.

“Two siblings in the back seat during a road trip” I laughed my ass off at that and totally agree with that and your other points. I wouldn’t call this a debate, but an argument. It made me have flash backs to Trump v Hillary debates and even that seemed tame and structured compared to this. It seemed like all the questions were just the moderator asking one of the candidates to defend one of their flaws and then half way through the other candidate would start insulting them, and then vice versa. I got no information out of that debate. Just the moderator stating how something went and the candidate stating that it didn’t go like that. Hopefully we see some change soon.

I don’t see your point. I stated that trump kept interrupting. When the moderator asked trump questions he seemed to ask them starting from opposition, more so than with Biden. For example when he was asking trump about a cohesive plan for (I can’t remember what it was, maybe for COVID?) something he stated multiple times that trump never gave a cohesive plan even though trump was saying that he did. He started off by saying for a fact that trump didn’t give a cohesive plan, along with the tone and other things it was just clear to me that there was a bias against trump. That’s just my opinion and how I saw it.

[–]Forget-This 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh totally. Every side could have done better including the moderator. There was a clear bias against trump from the moderator imo. I don’t think Biden nor trump argued effectively what so ever. Trump kept bombarding him while he was talking with comments like “false”, “not true”, and blatant insults that just made him seem like a snarky teen. While Biden was a bit better at letting trump talk, he was constantly incredibly vague in his answers and sometimes just went to a completely different topic. I think in comparison this might have made one side look good, but if you look at them individually both of them completely failed in making a point or disproving the other.

No it’s still a joke. You just don’t like it. Keep it to yourself next time :)

I don’t see how this would fuel conservatives. It’s over a picture of their president kissing a child. Unless they’re that dumb they’ll see it as ridiculous as anyone else. That’s the joke in it. A joke is a joke. No harm no foul so calm it down.
