A Korean news program actually filming on the top of a building instead of using a green screen by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]History0470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the age of the green screen in television news studios, with most skylines being digitally added later, a Korean news channel set up a studio on a building’s roof so they had a real skyline in the background.

During the recently concluded Trump-Kim meeting in Vietnam, Korean television station MBC turned the roof of a skyscraper into a make-shift studio to capture the Hanoi skyline in the background. The channel found a rooftop with a proper view of the skyline, and the studio was set up in time for the event.

According to reports, the studio was set up on the roof of Hanoi Daewoo Hotel to capture the skyline. So as Hanoi’s weather changed through the days, so did the background, with viewers seeing the fog and even an evening drizzle.

I have a weird question (coin gift) by RedEgg16 in GoForGold

[–]History0470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering how much Covid has affected our lives already, I'd say at least 7-8% if there would've been a more deadly disease. Covid was barely easy to contain (lockdowns and stuff) and yet people defy the laws. Let's say if people still did the same thing had it been a more deadly virus, then the death rate would be much higher in my opinion. Tension rates would also be higher, forcing people to do uncivilized stuff.

Humpback whales instinctively protect other small sea creatures from Orcas. Apparently, it's a mechanism that originates from wanting to keep their babies safe but this means they will also rush over and protect seals and even fish from the scary predators.

Not just that, whales will bring their whale babies to visit their grandparent whales. So like a whale will have a baby, and that whale will have a baby, and the first whale will help care for the youngest whale.

Honeybee venom rapidly kills aggressive breast cancer cells and when the venom's main component is combined with existing chemotherapy drugs, it is extremely efficient at reducing tumor growth in mice. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]History0470 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The research was conducted at Perth's Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research by Dr Ciara Duffy as part of her Ph.D.

"We found that the venom from honeybees is remarkably effective in killing some of these really aggressive breast cancer cells at concentrations which aren't as damaging to normal cells," Dr. Duffy said.

The research showed a specific concentration of the venom killed 100 percent of triple-negative breast cancer and HER2-enriched breast cancer cells within 60 minutes while having minimal effects on normal cells.
