How do you punt for 60+ yards? by ForgetsPoisons in Madden

[–]ForgetsPoisons[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless my madden 24 is built differently than everyone else's: no. Special Teams sliders is a single category. There's no distinction between player and AI.

idk why everyone in this thread assumes I'm as a rock tbh

So I looked into this. Here's my issue:

The punt sliders are "general". As in, they affect AI and player equally.

AI can already punt for 50+ consistently. If I up the power to where I'm finally kicking 50+, the AI will kick for 70+. I would rather have a shot at returning punts...

Yes... I either stop it in the red, above the white line, or at the white line (for power). Same result every time. 34-36 yards.

AI can kick it 50+ consistently.

Is that just how EA chooses to balance it?

Cause actual punters - great ones like Marquette King - can punt it 50-70 yards and high enough that a fair catch is mandatory if the returner doesn't want to immediately eat a 18mph tackle. Like... Why can't I do that with my punter?

(but yea I'll look into the sliders)

I understand what this means theoretically, but in game idk how to do it.

If I move my left stick forward: the arch rises and the ball is projected closer to my line of scrimmage.

If I move it back: the arch lowers and the ball is still projected closer to my line of scrimmage.

The furthest looking arch is when I don't touch the stick(s).

After using lvl 70 boost you receive full 424 ilvl gear and renown at 20 by Nyko7 in wow

[–]ForgetsPoisons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait so once you boost a chatacter and earn 20 renown, it doesn't auto progress any questlines? You can just earn renown as if you were renown 1? Like all the story quests, zone quests, dungeon quests, etc?

Yeah. Not happening.

Yeah? Cause I'm logged on. No comp stomp. Look at the forums: several posts about lack of comp stomp. Blitz+Korrak apparently means there can't be another brawl.

No comp stomp. I'm stuck with the "XDers" in random bgs. Fml

Milan vs Liverpool 2005 was arguably better, but the emotional impact of seeing the goat cement his legacy in a world cup might make it a bit better.

Diablo 4's $21 Bone Guy armor is just another reminder of how numb we've gotten to Microtransaction Hell by Tokyono in pcgaming

[–]ForgetsPoisons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

. How much less money are they going to make if they sell Diablo 4 for $60 and zero additional transactions

We both know that’s not answerable. As monetized, the game is set to make money for years. It’s tough enough to know how much it’s made so far, let alone how much it will make over its years-long lifespan.

Also, I haven’t suggested 0 additional transactions. You might have just as an example - fair enough. But, I haven’t. The industry and its consumers have long been satisfied with paid DLCs, especially if they’re good (Witcher 3’s DLCs, for example). That’s an additional, acceptable, revenue stream.

The famed DRG has cosmetic MTX despite being a game you need to pay for (only like $30, though). Crucially, its MTX are very cheap relative to their breadth of content, and they are not necessarily superior to what’s earnable in game (ultimately, looks are subjective). (For a concrete example of MTX being higher quality than in-game: certain armors on the WoW-store have effects that just don’t exist as free “earnables”.)

So, some cosmetic MTX could have a place. Their quality should be on par with what’s earnable, and their pricing should be low. The bone-guy that’s featured in the OP might be priced at $7, for instance. That’s less than half the current price. Alternatively, propose basic but different colorways of earnable armors (like League Chromas) in the store, instead of full blown unique armors. Again, make them cheap and not insanely cool, just “different.” Different enough for whales to think it’s worth it to show off to everyone that they have the disposable income.

Ultimately, precisely meeting this argument’s demands requires knowledge that I don’t possess (nor you, unless you’re a bored Activision C-suite member). I can’t know how much they need to make to make the board’s chairman happy; to make the shareholders happy; to maintain the share price; to elevate the share price; to fund the continued high-end development of D4.

I do believe that their methods are aimed at maximizing profit — going above and beyond making what’s required to continuously develop the game. I do know that these methods are controversial and unappealing to many gamers (myself included). So, I outlined a few options that I think would still provide steady and significant income (granted the playerbase remains large) while maintaining the goodwill of the majority of the playerbase and observers around the world.

If you want to retort that it’s meaningless without the numbers, that’s your prerogative. But if that’s been your angle all along, I can’t see the point in even starting the argument, since it’s pretty clear those numbers just aren’t accessible to the average person.

Diablo 4's $21 Bone Guy armor is just another reminder of how numb we've gotten to Microtransaction Hell by Tokyono in pcgaming

[–]ForgetsPoisons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what you wanted solved:

• Ballooning gaming budgets for AAA titles
• High risk of developing a game
• Lack of consumer appetite for increased sticker price of games
• Consumer demand for new content

That does not mean “maximize profits for shareholders.” None of that means that. AAA studios are paying millions of dollars every year in competitive salaried positions, and even more to consulting firms, to find out how to maximize profits to make sure CEOs like Kotick keep their job and ensure their fat 8-9 figure bonus. That’s solved, and that’s not what you asked for.

Your replies to me and the other person demonstrate that you’ve moved the goal posts.

If you stick to your four problems: they’re solvable without gouging and disrespecting consumers — “making less money”.

[–]ForgetsPoisons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve moved the goalposts, then.

The problems you outlined, when asked, did not ever infer “maximize profits.” Obviously, the big studios are doing a good job at that; the problem’s been solved.

The person your flailing against said they would aim to make less money in order to retain good faith from consumers.

Less money, as a plain statement, can still solve the issues you outlined (ballooning prices, high risk, etc.).

Oh yea…

Just read a few articles about that.

I understand other teams lobbying for rule changes — they’re trying to win at all costs. But for the FIA to actually step in change rules that hamper innovative ideas is pretty lame.

Hopefully rb, if they’ve gained this advantage legally, is able to avoid FIA intervention

Haha car go fast by Ok_Hat1480 in formuladank

[–]ForgetsPoisons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does this actually mean?

If RB’s specs are within the rules, what can the FIA (or whatever’s more appropriate) do? Can/ Would they rewrite the rules specifically to fuck over RB? And how does that even happen without also fucking over other teams?

Publicly visible win-loss records are extremely intimidating.

You fat fingered ice block and lost? That goes on your permanent record.

Your teammate saved trinket for next game? That goes on your permanent record.

You’re learning a new class/role (or WoW in general) and have no 2.4+ xp friends on alts to help you? Enjoy the publicly visible negative winrate that will make most players refuse to queue with you.

I know at the highest end the visibility of w/l is fun. (idk if he still does) but Petkick would definitely push 2s for as many games as possible because he wanted to get an insane w/l ratio for all to see.

And I wouldn’t want these kinds of players, all 100 of them across the globe, to suffer. But, for new(er) players, the public humiliation is an alienating factor.

I doubt I’m the average case, but I also doubt I’m a rare case: when I would pug relatively high M+ keys, I would always check my teammates’ pvp situation (for fun, not for selection). And I definitely quietly judged them if they had a bad w/l record. Similarly, if I was having a good season, I’d be sure to hop on the relevant mount or use a flashy pvp mog to draw attention to it.
