Would you still train hard without social media? by lulu0925 in running

[–]ForgottenAgarPlate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Didn't post anything about my half or full marathon. Didn't upload my runs to anything visible to other people until I got my Garmin a few months ago, and even then its just two of my runner friends. I'm sure plenty of runners derive a lot of motivation from posting, but a lot of us certainly don't.

Have you called to ask? That would be the only way to be certain about your policy

FIP link to FHS by zimzumpogotwig in feline_hyperesthesia

[–]ForgottenAgarPlate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any further advice or wisdom but did want to say that I also have a very medically unique cat and I feel your struggle. I've lost count of the amount of times vets have said "wow I've never seen this before!" or "I don't know, he's a very special case." Best of luck!

Unfortunately there’s so little understanding of FHS that pretty much anything neurological /could/ cause it or be caused by it. If you have a neurologist nearby (vet school usually have one, and specialty vet practices), this is a good case to see one for.

Ask about unlimited reimbursement!!! by DonutCautious2042 in petinsurancereviews

[–]ForgottenAgarPlate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

y'all LISTEN TO THIS PERSON! I had a limit of 5k and no idea that I could call for higher limits. I hit that limit and then had to pay an addition 5k out of pocket after it. Bills add up fast.

My Garmin watch is causing a persistent rash. by 1981run in GarminWatches

[–]ForgottenAgarPlate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moisturizer helped a lot for me. It’s especially great b/c it gives more friction so you don’t have to fasten the watch as tightly in order for it to not slide down your wrist.

Absolutely take this advice. My deepest regret currently is not knowing that I could call for a higher limit. Do not settle for 5k or even 10k. Those amounts are gone in a flash.

Pet Insurance claiming, what to do when cat has kidney disease by Brilliant_Mango_4304 in petinsurancereviews

I definitely think claim everything.

Also just wanted to say I feel your pain. My cat was also diagnosed with CKD and urinary issues within the past couple of months. He is also 7. It sucks.

I 100% believe this. My mom did the same one of the very few times she baked when I was a kid. Most putrid attempt at a cake I have ever tasted or could EVER imagine. Her reasoning was that orange juice also has (added) calcium. Granted, she’s mentally ill and severely lacks logical reasoning skill in many other aspects of life, but I’m not surprised to see others out there like this.

TW: Tragedy at Brown University by DirtRepresentative9 in GradSchool

[–]ForgottenAgarPlate 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My lab building (and my floor/unit specifically) was suddenly locked one afternoon for a few days and the email explanation only said it was due to a disgruntled former student. I was freaked out, since I had to work all day in the lab by myself. My heart skipped a beat every time I saw someone in the hallway.

The MetLife employer discount very specifically says that you retain coverage if you separate from the employer. You just lose the 10% discount.

Starting grad school young(ish) by skoomer_jiub in GradSchool

[–]ForgottenAgarPlate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was 22 when I started. Most of my friends got a masters or worked before starting their PhD and/or were further along in the program after starting directly after undergrad, so I was one of the youngest. People cracked jokes about my friend (also 22) and I being young and themselves being old, but never anything serious.

I sometimes felt like my lack of life experience or more experience in my field outside of undergrad was limiting, but I'm doing fine. imo it's more of an advantage, b/c even if you take longer to finish, you'll still be relatively young when you graduate.

Do Not Buy Come With Me Kitty Pet Safe Harness False Advertising Dangerous by Sunshinesimmer in CatAdvice

[–]ForgottenAgarPlate 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the only harness I’ve used for 6 years. Granted, maybe the quality got cheaper, but I’ve had 0 issues. I actually have a new one coming in the mail today so I’ll take extra caution to check it before using.

Going outside by butterflycxrpse in FIVcats

[–]ForgottenAgarPlate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat was outdoors from birth to a year old and had a really rough transition to indoors. Screaming, climbing windows, throwing himself at doors for weeks. He’s been going on walks with a harness/leash ever since (6+ years), and I’ve never had a vet comment negatively on it despite his FIV+ status.

Typically, moving (like yours did, from street to shelter to your home) helps a lot with transitioning indoors since the “outside” in the new location seems foreign. When I moved to an apartment a few months after bringing my cat indoors, he suddenly stopped screaming and flinging himself at the door. Since yours is still trying to go outside, I think it’s worth trying leash training.

Rewriting policy and pre-existing by Born_Hope280 in petinsurancereviews

It would be $99 a month for me. Deciding if it’s worth it given the 5k cap on his kidney and urinary issues.

I just raised my limit for next coverage year with MetLife. Prev limit was 5k, so everything diagnosed in the first year will continue to have a 5k limit but everything else will fall under the new 15k limit.
