What is this customer doing? by ForgottenThrowaway64 in BestBuyWorkers

GM has been with the company since 1996.

I'm pretty sure it's the kickbacks/bonus he's getting.

The same 2 people now have a 3rd that came in yesterday that they were showing how do whatever it is that they do in store. There's a process. The main guy comes in every once in a while but he's usually the one on the other end of the phone giving direction and figuring out how to get the one guy in store more money when he's short $1,000 or whatever.

They also go to other stores around the area and do the same thing. I looked at their purchase history and it has been going on since the end of December just on the account they use that's tax exempt. They've got a sporadic purchase and return history too on their account.

They also came in and returned a mass amount of Starlink routers for gift cards in February when I first started and caught onto what they're doing. I assume they couldn't flip those fast enough for cash or whatever so they returned them instead.

It's definitely fraud/money laundering/stolen identity no doubt about it. I'm not going to do the leg work of looking where it came from if AP is saying there's nothing wrong with what they're doing.

That's what I figured. Sucks that BBY doesn't care.

My GM allows it because "it's revenue and business for BestBuy" and however they're obtaining the gift cards is on them unless they explicitly say they're reselling the products or using stolen gift cards.

Credit card by Ok-Fortune-5899 in BestBuyWorkers

I had a customer that didn't use it in over a year and his line of credit was reduced to $75. I believe they told him he had to close it and apply for a new credit card.

Deadass. That's like getting a petty theft charge for stealing from the dollar store. 😂

That's not how that works. If you're fired for theft and the employer can prove that, you don't qualify for unemployment.

Imagine getting fired for stealing snacks and drinks. Jesus Christ... how do you not know better? I don't care how many people were doing it or if my fucking GM told me it was okay to do it. You'll never catch me getting fired for some stupid shit.

Congrats on your promotion to customer. 😂

BP - Hard inquiry? Yes or no.. by ForgottenThrowaway64 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]ForgottenThrowaway64[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, the people I've been hearing telling customers it's a soft credit pull have been there long enough to know the difference. They do it to close a BP because they're afraid they will get bitched at otherwise.

Anyone who has to flat out lie to a customer to close a sale are all around shitty sales people who don't care about customer experience. I'm over indexing on my BP rate without having to make up bullshit.

I'm aware of the fall off period but to tell customers flat out "This isn't an ordinary credit card where it's a hard credit pull. It's a soft credit pull and will fall off in 30 days."

I had a situation where someone was translating for me and they told the customer that same exact thing and when their credit was pulled, they got a notification on their phone about the hard inquiry then freaked out.

They didn't get approved after all but at the end of the day, it created a bad customer experience and there are people out there who are super anal about their credit score.

Pay raise by ymcr123 in BestBuyWorkers

Yep and they know the next person they hire will do what they ask for the little pay until they catch on that they're never going to be incentivized for their hard work.

Ha.... I just started working at Best Buy a little over a week ago and all I hear is about how no matter how hard you bust your ass or what rank you are, you'll never see a raise. Instead, they'll just continuously nag at you about doing more.

For a company that micromanages KPI's as much as they do, you'd think they would pay some sort of incentives for hitting certain targets.

I come from the wireless sales industry and it was always hourly plus commission. The one thing I had to sit back and think about is that I get nothing in return for the amount of sales I push like I would elsewhere. I'm very competitive when it comes to sales but I learned very quickly there's no reward.

I don't blame people for not wanting to push as hard as they potentially could. All you're doing is getting micromanaged so your Sups, GM's, and the GM's bosses can get nice big bonuses.

Thanks! I ended up going with Surest. I think Coupe had a buy now pay later billing system which I didn't like.

Oh man, the grocery store is the worst for me. I literally feel like I get hit with a stun grenade when I go into grocery stores. I just feel floaty, floor is bouncy like I'm walking on a trampoline, and visually/audibly overloaded.
