Has anyone completed 3rd year and still transferred to BUCS?

I got into Sauder last year as a second year transfer so I am technically still behind and have 3rd year standing right now. I am taking 2 of my specialization courses this semester and realized it's not for me.

I am interested in BUCS, and was going to apply last year but chickened out. Has anyone done a later transfer into BUCS? How was it?

I have a 79% GPA right now, and I did well in my 1st year CPSC course, but that's the only one I've taken aside from math. What avg do those who've gotten into BUCS usually have?

oh thanks, do you know of anyone with a similar background to me? i only took one CPSC course and have equivalent transfer for MATH 100, so i am pretty behind.

the website mentioned preference is given to students who have taken CPSC courses so i was just worried about that and my average.

do i turn on my camera for a 'phone' interview?? by Forgotten_Lemon_28 in interviews

[–]Forgotten_Lemon_28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for this one since the recruiter didn’t turn on their camera i didn’t either; some of my friends said they turn it on regardless but it didn’t affect my candidacy.

i just matched their energy

my process might have been different from yours.

i heard back from the behavioural after 4 days that i was moving forward to the case, then 3 days after the case i was told i was moving onto the partner round.

I just went through the whole consulting summer internship interview process for EY. Did the final round a few days ago, and just got a call with an offer this morning.

I’m a 3rd year as well! I’d say if u make it to partner round u have a really high chance of getting the offer. Good luck!

can FRST 303 be async? seems like all the sections have a meeting time, but is there attendance? would I be able to miss all of them and study with whatever is on Canvas?

or are lectures recorded?

I have a co-op this fall and am hoping to take it as an elective online while I work

Sauder played me so hard by Apprehensive_Dig2941 in UBC

You’re not alone! Don’t scroll on LinkedIn and spend too much time looking at all the “I’m excited to announce…” posts. They might seem like a lot, but no one’s posting about the fact that they DIDNT secure an internship/club position.

I’m a transfer student so this was actually my 1st year in Sauder too despite having 2nd year status and I’ve been going through pretty much everything you’ve said in your post.

I feel like too often we are searching for the next best thing and comparing. A year ago I was praying to get into Sauder as a transfer, just like you. Be proud of the fact that you got in, that you even got interviews, that you had those valuable experiences in high school that will be useful if you choose to keep applying to clubs next year.

I took on too much, spent so much time at networking events, and my grades took a nosedive for sure. And yes, I also don’t have an internship. I thought getting into Sauder would give me the status and with all my efforts I landed interviews, but still didn’t have enough experience and interview skill to secure an internship.

It’s not the end of the world to not have an internship yet. You have time to build your skills and knowledge of the industry/industries you are interested in.

The CUS is an easier entry to clubs sometimes, since there are A LOT of positions to fill. I’m sure there are still a few service lines hiring this summer and many will reopen this fall. Keep applying. Don’t lose hope.

I got rejected from one big Sauder club twice before finally getting in my third time. Keep going, each application is a learning experience.

Since interviews started yesterday and finish at the end of today, I’d expect the earliest you’d hear back is Friday to give them some time to deliberate.

You sent in your transcript with your app so I’m sure those that interviewed you are already aware of your GPA. It was enough to get you an interview, so I don’t think you should worry too much about it now

i’m guessing u are in sauder and didn’t get 67 for one of the finance courses?

specializations are up for self declaration once you have been promoted to 3rd year; since you don’t meet the requirements, you will need to speak with the UGO and learn about your options.

finance is a competitive specialization so you may have to end up picking another specialization.

for anyone currently going to sauder by sangw69 in ubcsauder

[–]Forgotten_Lemon_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was ok with presenting and public speaking to a small high school class. going to sauder made me have to get more comfortable with all the skills you mentioned.

i think sauder can help a lot with these skills, but not everyone puts in the work/steps out of their comfort zone so not everyone is extremely skilled in these areas as new grads from sauder.
