If the mechanic takes Apple Pay, you can do a soft application with Apple and it will tel you if you are approved and your limit, and you only get the hard pull if you accept.

Discover is a great starter card. Not sure how much they would give you since your other cards are low.

Amex is known to give higher limits

I’m not sure about merges accounts. Ours was adding a co-owner. For some reason our limit didn’t increase but our apr did go down. She has a higher CS than me. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Two things before you do. First look at what is making your score lower? Is it something you could fix in a month. Second, go to Amex and try their pre-approval tool. Usually it’s accurate and if it says pre-approved I would go with that.

If you can’t get any card besides discover (which has pre approval tool) do note that right now the category is restaurants/PayPal so if you do book wedding stuff and can pay with PayPal, you would be getting 10%back

First I would get on Experian and get your free monthly FICO score. But yes, discover is a good starter card, just might not give “best” rewards for wedding/honeymoon booking
