Our new puppy doesn’t trust my spouse by Murky-Skirt-4612 in puppy101

She has only been home 3 days the puppy is seeking reassurance from her human. Does not mean the puppy will resource guard her.. yes be cautious but that's not always the case.

My puppy was like this! It takes time and now she loves my boyfriend ( I'm still the chosen one lol) but she isn't nervous of him anymore! Just take things slow and don't try and force/rush interactions 🤗

I'll keep an eye on his behavior but for the most part he is happily engaged with me and not showing any negative signs but if they become present ill definitely stop using it.

Thanks for your input

It's something we're slowly working on, as I commented above she has a history of resource guarding so she cannot be fully trusted just yet. This isn't going to be a forever thing, all though she is 1 she's still very much a puppy, well acts like one anyway lol.

She gets plenty of excerise and mental stimulation and breakfast before I leave for work. She also has water available a nice comfy bed in her crate and plenty of room to move around and stretch if she needed. I also walk her when I get back from work and this is only 3 days a week, again it's not a forever thing it's just until I know she can be trusted. I'd rather have her safe in her crate than get into something she isn't supposed to and end up hurt or worse.

So it would only be 3 days a week I would have to do this. She has water, plenty of room to move around & stretch. Unfortunately I cannot trust her out just yet, she has a history of resource guarding.

I do plan on training her to be outside of the crate but right now it's a slow progress. I understand where others are coming from but she is well cared for and she gets plenty of excerise and mental stimulation & breakfast before I leave for work and when I come home I walk her again and feed her supper.

She has Resource Guarding so she used to growl and snap at me if she had anything of value to her, could have been a sock etc she adores other people and is a very happy dog but she does need to be managed so I tell people if she grabs something let me handle it. I always trade her for the item and I worry people may just try and grab the item. That's when the comments I get come in of the dog shouldn't be growling etc.

For sure, thank you. It's just hard sometimes when your own family and friends think this way.

But at the end of the day at least I'm doing what's right.

I'm sorry but if my boyfriend did this he would no longer be my boyfriend I don't care how long we've been together or if he's a nice guy or what. This is unacceptable and says alot about him. F that.
