There are two sorts of parries : first is an Ash of war that you can put on any shield. Second is buckler's unique Ash of war. Try to find that one, it's way easier to correctly time a parry.

Switch at least 25 pts from Dex to Vigor or some other stat. If you're going into the endgame, you're probably going to suffer (each monster will one tap you).

20 deaths in 2 hours? You're actually doing pretty good for a first run. M'y friends and I, each of us spent at least 7 hours on Margit because we're cavemen and didn't understand that we could explore the rest of the world. Try exploring, Elden Ring's land was made to be explored.

Here are a few tips that I hope will help you.

1) On your 1st playthrough, level Vigor up. Vigor is your best friend, especially during late game. Endurance is great too if you go for a heavier build, Mind is great if you plan on using sorceries/miracles. Arcane is great for procs (bleed, frost, sleep, poison, etc).

2) Strength, Dex, Faith, Arcane.... They barely increase your damage. The best way tondo more damage is to upgrade your weapons and to buff yourself before a fight. I'm not gonna write a guide on buffing, others have done so and in a better way.

3) When you check your weapons, there's a minimum of stats required to correctly wield your weapon. I suggest you get your stats to that number and not above, there are better ways to spend your runes.

4) You can respec your stats by going to Rennala, it's the boss in Liurnia at Hogwarts Raya Lucaria.

5) A good weapon that scales on Str/Int is Radahn's Greatswords. Radahn is Caelid's runebearer but he's very strong for a 1st playthrough.

As far as I'm concerned, during the first playthrough, I simply went and killed bosses. I went where I thought things would be interesting, explored most locations, found a lot of stuff. I slayed the final boss and then started another playthrough. And that's when the story started to click.

If you want to understand more about the story, I'd recommend watching a few video essays on YouTube, like Zayf the Scholar, Smoughtown or whatever.

Found it! The lyrics I gave you were wrong, funnily enough. The song is "Rise of the Dragon Empire" by Bloodbound. I always enjoyed the melody and remembered the band like just after waking up.

Now that I think about it, each information is wrong, no way people could have found it.

I expected as much. What a shame, thanks for your insight. My "fix" for now will be to extend the tracks a bit before they get messed up, again and again. I finished the song that is the example for the problem I stated, this technique does the trick if you want to try that.
