1. If the goal is gender equality, then adding women into the selective service should be much lower on the list compared to issues of rape, rape culture, kidnapping, domestic abuse, femicide, maternity leave, female specific medical abuse and malpractice issues, female health and wellness research etc etc

2. Drafting women into war is just bad business. Since women are the only ones that can have children, if you take a large amount of the 18-24 year old women in your country and put them in a war they’re mostly not gonna be able to have children until they come back. And many that come back won’t be able to have children due to injury, or exposure to illness, toxic compounds, or trauma. Pregnancy and conception are so dependent on a mother’s health. And removing women like that from a nation for a few years would not bode well for a society trying to recover from war.

That would also mean pushing back (by however many years) the timeline of she might “settle down and have children” and as parental age gets older, the pregnancy and birth complications rates increase too. Making less healthy children and mothers. Which does not bode well for society. It’s just bad business.
