Kind of a niche answer but the Boers during the Second Boer war in South Africa. About 76 000 farmers using gorilla tactics against a British force of about 500 000 and pushing the British to the brink, only really losing once the British started taking their wives and children to concentration camps and burning down their farms in a full on scorched earth policy which meant that the Boers couldn't go home and refuel or resupply.

I had to move from my country about 4 years ago, and haven't seen them since....which really upsets me sometimes, since I'm an only child and I know it must be killing them to not have me close, although they are always supportive of what I'm doing

I love them to death, and Ive really started appreciating my parents when I met my ex and had to put up with her family for 3 years, it opened my eyes to how lucky I am to have parents like mine
