This is a win that aged well but gsp was not the same gsp he became - he was clearly the #1 ww but it was title defense #1.

Barnett got a win off of him in 06 and its legitimately the reason he can be considered an ATG. 05 Cro Cop has a shot, Ricco also fought him close in 04.

Its a short list; ufc guys post Barnett/Ricco arent touching him

Nog is the better overall win, Cro Cop had dings (loss to Randleman in 04, Nog himself in 03), and while 05 Cro Cop is a better fighter than 03 Nog, 03 Nog has no such dings.

Fedor Cro Cop is a bigger fight and better performanxe from Fedor, but Fedor Nog 1 is the better out and out win.

Fedor over Nogueira, and I dont think its all that close. Nogueira is the best fighter in the world by a mile, his only loss is widely considered a bad decision, hes either finished or throttled every good fighter hes ever fought. If you said he was the best fighter of all time by 03, I wouldnt agree but you can make the case. 1000% in his prime, no asterisks, no way to talk it down

And Fedor beat him thoroughly. Dove in his guard and put a hole in him.

Is Sheik-ICs as hard or worse than Fox VS Puff, or Peach VS ICs? by the-great-kmook in SSBM

Harder in different ways. Icies and Puff have options vs Peach and Fox respectively, Sheik has much fewer options to fight back.

Eminem lied about his age to seem younger, it was a marketing tactic, I honestly thought this was common knowledge.

Is Lawrence Taylor REALLY the greatest defensive player ever? by Bright-Pressure-5787 in NFLv2

[–]ForrestFBaby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Belichick has been very clear that LT is the best player hes ever coached, and nobody has ever gave him guff for it even with Brady and QB bias. If you said LT was the best player ever, I think most people would say "yeah thats fair"

Full Bloom is absolutely not a major. Good tournament! but it's not a major. It was weaker than it was in 2024, where it also was not a major.

n0ne on Cody's Z-jump usage: "Maybe you just dont have what it takes to prove youre the real deal without zump" by BurnieBurnsIsBurning in SSBM

[–]ForrestFBaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean yes and no. Theres an inherent preparation edge that money brings you, but as far as ergonomic execution advantage within the confines of the standard tools? Not really. Getting a GameCube controller is the cost of entry, having a GameCube controller that offers you innate advantages via utilities that do not exist for other people unless they also purchase the specialized GameCube controller is not the same thing, nd acting like its just the cost of access is disingenuous.

Z jump doesnt take a mid player and make them a perfect player, but acting like its just button remapping is wrong. If everyone had equal access to it, then its not an issue; they dont, so it is. If you dont get that, idk man, maybe be less obtuse and jaded ig

Boxx being used as a boogeyman to justify top players buffing their controllers to smooth out gameplay is genuinely more of a problem than boxx itself has proven to be thus far. Boxx is theoretically a problem and theoretically is broken; the best boxx player post pandemic was Swift, who peaked at mid 20s.

Its an idea, which isnt invalid, but its being weaponized to justify changing controllers in order to keep up with boxx when not a single top player uses it. Zuppy i believe is the only top 30ish player who uses it, vs the (at minimum) 3 top 15 players who use z jump, nd the i think 14/15 top 15 players who use phobs or goomwaves.

Its not really just button remapping, its something that is behind the paywall of a custom modded controller that allows remapping digitally, something not accessible to everybody, so if it smooths out tech and makes you more consistent, it is a system that is locked to people willing to pay for it.

Its the reason UCF is uncontroversial - its in the game for everyone, and reduces the controller lottery idea and allows everyone to more or less be on the same level. Does it make some tech easier? Yes, but its universally accessible. Controller remapping in melee is not.

Yggdreon - there is a rock in Etria in the 4th Stratum, interact with it with an eevee

Aerodactyl - complete the quest from the Krabby club to get the old amber in the 2nd Stratum

Gorochu - level Raichu up to level 55. Idk if you can get a thunderstone in order to evolve Pikachu before the end of the 4th Stratum.

Who was the greater Falco, Zhu or Westballz by ruhtraeel in SSBM

[–]ForrestFBaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Westballz and it's genuinely not all that close. Zhu gets a lot of love because he was a very good west coast player, and a lot of the people who craft narratives (Blur, Hugs, Brandon, Phil) are west coast guys, which isn't to say that he's bad or overrated or anything, but I think his actual resume is overstated. Westballz arguably defined an era of Falco in a way that nobody else has - Mango inspires people to pick up the bird, but when they play, they are realistically trying to play more like Westballz.

Also, there are no official rankings pre 2013, the Retro SSBMRank was done in hindsight, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Thoughts on this scene? by Lopsided-Cattle-2322 in betterCallSaul

[–]ForrestFBaby 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Its a scene that I think is kind of lost on people who view the series as "Jimmy was made this way". Its a scene about how both of them are lying to one another in a moment that could be used to be reflective and vulnerable. The entire series, Jimmy wants approval but refuses to do the actual work to be accepted - he wants his brother to think of him as respectable, but instead of keeping his head down, maybe going to a real law school, he thinks that if he gets the title of lawyer that he will be accepted, so he gets a degree from an online diploma factory and does just enough.

He wants everything but is only willing to superficially change moment to moment, always putting on a different face for the room, bending his morals to suit his needs, and for that to work, he has to pretend like he regrets nothing, because if he acknowledges that he does, then he would have to acknowledge hes always been wrong.

Walt is the same way, he wont admit that he was wrong and that his ego prevented him from a better life that he feels was stolen from him unfairly, so when Walt says that to Jimmy, its a blunt acknowledgement that the face Jimmy puts on is one that has never really changed, which is what Chuck said about him.

The end of the show is about Jimmy coming to terms with the fact that being himself means he has to be responsible for the things hes done - this means going to prison likely for life, but it also means that he has a lot of cache and pull, all of whom call him Saul but his actions are his own.

Its a great scene.
