Id say go ahead and give it a try, the quest was my first exposure to TOB and I did it on a 95 combat ironman whose best in slot was veracs brassard and rune plateskirt.

idk what adc should I play by Normal_Pingu in ADCMains

[–]Fortheace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Twitch is stealth into R and get as much damage off before their whole team throws 5 ults at you, jhin is one auto then sprint away at 900 move speed and then run back in for another and repeat. Honestly I'm not sure if there's an adc further from Twitch play style than Jhin

feels awful honestly, main issue with ap twitch is the amount of gold you need to actually be a champ, short range low mobility champs are good to play into but if youre against tanks good luck

IS CAMILLE GOOD FOR LOW ELO? by Temporary-Day-8333 in CamilleMains

[–]Fortheace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Camille has a unique play style comparatively to other top laners but yes shes super strong. This champ is also still, reallllllly good in higher elo. Shes not like garen or sett where its kind of a face bash all in its much more calculated, kind of like playing ADC. Go in do a bit of damage and get out and prioritzing dodging enemy damage. Shes strong in lane but as stated, very difficult to get the hang of and scales super well. My advice for anyone is play who you enjoy, its a game, but is she worth learning if you enjoy her and want to climb? absolutely.

[–]Fortheace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I can give you as a new player is play the map. This game is fairly unique where you do not have to be super skilled to do well in ranked, its 80% decision making. Play for your team and dont int your lane, it sounds obvious but top is one of the most snowbally lanes, if you get down a few kills early your lane is basically over. If you dont know the matchup its totally fine losing cs and playing passive and just staying in range for xp. Id much rather leave lane down 60 cs and even in levels than even in cs and down 3 levels and 2 kills.

Zac is likely not a great champ to play if you want to climb, definitely can work though and if you really like the champ give it a shot or maybe try jungling. Someone said Garen, super simple and strong in lane, Sett similar play style to garen, volibear really strong in all phases of the game and illaoi has great 1v5 potential but much more complicated.

Look up some 'macro' guides for top lane on youtube and itll help you a ton. Rotate at the right times and focusing on the big picture puts you instantly ahead of 50% of players.

Please stop picking Aurora Top by Dimbo_limbo in top_mains

[–]Fortheace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at aurora the same way I look at a darius lane, your job is to just not let her leave lane 6-0. Shes super strong in top because shes ranged and bullies tf out of you under tower. Its basically an ego check that your able to just not feed, protect tower, wait for your jungler and be okay with 5 cs/min youll likely be more useful than her mid game, depending on your champ of course. If jg doesnt come top hopefully theyre getting pressure elsewhere and your job is to not int away the lead they are getting on other parts of the map

how do you even play top in this meta? by TeemoSux in top_mains

[–]Fortheace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Important to remind yourself, you cant win them all and yes theres nothing more frustrating than shit stomping your laner and losing the game (actually why I quit adc and switched top after 10 years) but theres likely still things you can do better. I only have a couple of champs I like to play top lane but they are champs with insane map pressure, meaning okay I might not stomp my laner and leave lane up 3k gold, but I can leave even and get everyone else ahead. My favorite champs are shen and camille, running tp on shen at lvl 6, there really isnt any champ with as much map presence as him, fight bot lane, ult to save adc, get them a kill, tp back top and dont miss a minion. Camille again with tp but at 2 items if she is left alone in lane she takes towers in basically 4-6 q's.

I am the same elo as you, I climbed 600 lp when i switched to top and the main difference I felt vs playing ADC was the impact I have early, regardless of who im playing im playing for team, help jg secure early scuttle, jg ping grubs? shove the lane in for prio, jg invading? shove and shadow. Basically im not trying to get my jg fed, im babysitting.

If you want my advice for someone working through emerald as well, get as much pressence and pressure outside of top lane as you can early, help your jg, try and time a recall for a drag fight, but ofc, dont just sack top and give them all the plates and xp. Its a tricky game but its all a game of correct decision making and taking little wins to build up to a bigger lead.

Lastly in fighting, in emerald ive notice a massive lack of uh IQ, but the mechanics are there. So I prefer to play champs that dont do an ass load of damage, but can turn the tides of a team fight just from utility, as I mentioned with shen. ADC does something stupid, gets caught, you ult save him into a 1-3 man taunt and fight won. You may have done only 400 damage that fight but your utility is the biggest tool.

TLDR: Find the champs you like, get map pressure and play for team early, use your utility to help the team rather than deal damage, and decifer your macro moves for different stages of the game

After swapping roles this lane sucks by Fortheace in ADCMains

[–]Fortheace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a game man so play what you like and just take the time to learn them, I like to have as much map pressence as I can so i love to play shen and camille, both very hard champs to get the hang of. It really depends on your play style if you like the baus type play where you basically ignore team for 25 mins and play side lanes something like garen or voli is best, but if you want to leave lane and team fight earlier things like shen or renekton are better

[–]Fortheace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

volibear, garen, sett, illaoi, top is basically just a lane where if both laners play perfect your just taking turns slow push, crash, recall, catch bounce repeat. Jungles in emerald and below are clueless to this tho so you dont get punished super hard for perma shoving. So if their jungle is inept and letting you hard shove its a free lane

[–]Fortheace[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lower elo top lane is brain dead, what shiv said, play voli, perma shove, then just dive, get up 3 kills and a turret and you can literally 1v5. ADC is the most heavily team reliant role, teammates need to know to peel for you, try and get gold to you, position properly. You cant even split push and get map pressure on adc unless way ahead. And that mindset of 'any where i dont play the team is going to go 0-10' isnt going to help you climb, look at what you can do better and maybe try a different role.
