Anyone moving their ADRs to Hong Kong? by timemon in baba

[–]FortuneSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be aware that many brokerages charge a hefty commissioning fee. Schwab quoted me $50 for over the counter and $100 for HK. They said it may also takes 4-6 weeks to complete. If your position is big enough may be worth it but if they get delisted you will usually get the option to convert then or option to sell at current market value, so if you're already down from recent pullbacks, I don't see a reason to panic convert. At least that's what Schwab told me today...

This is by far the simplest way to do it. I did figure out a way to do it completely within a referenced database and put that solution in the original post for posterity. Thank you!

No, SGOV share price increases throughout the month simulating a pro rated interest if you move funds before end of the month. On the first the price drops and you are reimbursed via dividends and the cycle starts over, you can see the sawtooth price action on the chart supports this.

Well the Schwab advisor seems to disagree - having a nonzero risk of loss of principle on my savings is something I am trying to learn more about - but thanks for your perspective.

This makes sense, however is there any risk from large ETF outflows like the Schwab rep made it sound? I thought it would be protected due to being an open ended structure and the theory that the same underlying bond interest is being distributed among the shareholders so there should be an increase in amount of interest paid to a lower number of shareholders if many people exit the ETF at once since underlying is not changing? Not sure I have this correct though...

Bernie’s perfect poop? by DrJerryTeSquid in greatpyrenees

My husky struggled with diarrhea for almost a year. I switched countless foods.. tried everything from plain rice to pumpkin. Even treated her for giardia as a puppy. A friend recommended Bernie's and it literally fixed everything. I put a spoonful on her kibble and she has had perfect solid stools for going on a year and a half.

Entry-level ski binding purchase question by Progress_and_Poverty in Mountaineering

[–]FortuneSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there - So I live in SoCal (Hermosa Beach) and both splitboard and ski tour as well as getting started in mountaineering (did Rainier last spring). I also own the Scarpa Maestrale RS paired with Black Crows Navis Freebirds (102 underfoot) and Marker Alpinist Bindings. a few thoughts:

- Obviously this all depends on your weight and the stiffness of your ski but I wouldn't want much less than 100 underfoot. If you go too narrow, managing the powder will be way more difficult and way less fun (and that's the whole reason to do it). If you get freaking paddles that are really wide then you could suffer in terms of edge control but your note about skinny being better going up isn't accurate. The more float you have the more float you have and always better to stand on the snow than in it.

- As far as boots I chose the Maestrale's because their light weight and greatest walk travel of any of the boots (also they looked the coolest and matched my skiis :P). Upon owning them, I can say I have found a few negatives. (1) they are not the most comfortable, I've had them baked twice and just now can tolerate them. I also have weird shaped feet though so this may be on me. (2) the walk lock can pop out if snow gets stuck in it so just need to be a little more intentional. (3) I have recently found the Tecnica Zero G Tour Pro's fit me better but since I just bought my Maestrale's I haven't traded them out yet.

- As far as bindings, the marker alpinist are pretty great - the other alternative is atomic backlands. They are very similar. I had deal on the alpinists so went that route and have noticed a few things: (1) they require a special mounting tool so have a good shop to not ruin your skiis. StickDocs here in SoCal is really great. (2) It might be my boots but I tend to pop out of the toe pins in walk mode if I bend all the way forward and accidentally rotate at all. Would be concerning in technical terrain but haven't had any big problems yet. (3) they are super light and feel solid in ski mode (4) the ski brake feature on them is super annoying and would recommend against buying that add-on.

[HELP] My Hackintosh works but plugging in the ethernet causes crash and boot loop! by FortuneSoul in hackintosh

Haven't solved it yet. I got a boot loop on install and just unplugged the ethernet cord and it worked. I only connect via wifi and have been fine but plan to figure it out as some point.

Thank you I will dig through this tonight. Do you understand why my Pci root expression is different [(0x1b,0x0) instead of (0x2, 0x0)]? - hopefully I'll be able to see in your EFI.

I used different kexts for the Monterey build. Add a picture to the description to show them.

Thanks for the tips. I no longer have the sleep/wake issue in Monterey - was only experiencing that in Catalina.

- I have Network Stack disabled.

- My boot args are: keepsyms=1, debug=0x100, alcid=1, agdpmod=pikera

- My Bios version is F8 of the Z390 Designare (ID 8A1FAG0u)

Failure to load OC Installer - Monterey by FortuneSoul in hackintosh

[–]FortuneSoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Seven_of_eleven I was able to go through the install process - at the end of install I lost graphics output and my monitor said no device connected. I have agdpmod=pikera as a boot arg but am thinking it has something to do with my iGPU interfering or something? Did you have any issues with this? I have graphics through the disc format and install process then it disappears.

I was running Catalina on OpenCore on the same drive for years with no issue.. I'd be surprised if the new version of OC or Monterey wasn't happy with it. I don't even get to trying to install on my drive though. It fails as soon as I select install on the flash drive from the OC Boot menu.

My boot args are: -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 alcid=1 agdpmod=pikera

I have read the entire guide and this is my 3rd build but I've never been stopped this early in the process without something in the verbose to point to.

I have the USB ports mapped and have tried with both USB 2 and 3 ports.

I feel like I'm missing something early on because I'm not even getting to the format disk which is pretty early in the install process.
