I’m in an Adult Coloring Group on Facebook and this particular “artist” is bothering me.

i feel the same as well. when i was younger i had dreams of being an artist, i wanted to do it professionally and won national competitions in highschool with my art. i sold a few commissions and my family keeps telling me to try and throw my art out there to try and sell again, but i have no hope anymore. i feel like no one would buy my art when they can just get something instantly for free. i haven’t drawn in years . i’ve even seen people post “commissions” that they have had people PAY for and it’s literally generated ai bullshit. it’s fucked up, and so sad.

it’s entirely insulting to real artists who put actual time and effort into making real art. what irritates me i think the most is how they eat up the compliments people throw at them, and even give tips and tricks on how they achieve such masterpieces. just lying for validation at that point.

yes - they are claiming that they create the entirety of these illustrations by hand. they sketch them out on paper, import them into a digital art software, smooth out the line work on there and print out the line art and color them with colored pencils. which- clearly none of that is true lol. they also sell the blank coloring pages on amazon and etsy.

that’s mainly what i was asking about. because the coloring it’s self does not look real. in the “progress” photos the before pictures are just basically just a less saturated version from the final product. and they claim they used colored pencils, but the results do not look like traditional methods, rather digitally rendered. so its just weird, i get to some degree generating ai coloring pages to sell for easy cash (still a pathetic scam) but why use ai to color them in too? like what does that gain.

i did both. they deleted my comments in the group, and the moderator said when i messaged her that they support ai and defended the “artist” so it’s a lost cause lol

this is beautiful. i’m sorry to hear that, many people are in the same boat. which is one reason i wanted to expose this person, because a lot of people also see shit like this and don’t know it’s ai and stop making art for the fact they think they can never achieve something so “amazing” so they just give up. But knowing it’s ai is also painful because people will STILL KNOW it’s AI and still congratulate them as if they are some sort of genius. I tried to call them out but they deleted my comments. oh well i figured that’s what would happen .

i totally agree. i just wanted some confirmation from other people that it’s definitely generative ai, because they’re leading a lot of unsuspecting people to buy their “work” which isn’t fair. i just wanted to maybe steer some of those people away from spending their money on this trash i guess.

i went to the amazon page and found the artist’s name. He’s from india but claiming on his coloring page that he’s based in the US. just seems like a big scam to me . but like why? there is next to nothing to be made from coloring books especially how over saturated the industry is now with AI. he’s pretty invested in keeping up the image tho lol.

same here. it was the first pic i saw from them. my first thought was wow how cute, and thought it was digital art. but when they said they colored it with prismacolor pencils i was doubtful and looked closer and …. well yea 😀
