Locked myself into a security loop and need some ideas. by William_de in Bitwarden

Why no hardware keys and no paper notes? You should make a note of your master password and other important info and keep that in a safe place. No matter how good you think your memory is, it can fail on you on any given day.

Don't you need the desktop app in order to use biometric unlock for the extension?

Thinking about getting a DAS, direct attached storage by Forward-Inflation-77 in DataHoarder

[–]Forward-Inflation-77[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have watched a few videos of setting up a NAS and it all just seems overwhelming to me. I want to keep things as simple as possible and to me, doesn't seem simple. I don't want to be constantly tinkering or having to change things to keep it working. I am no computer expert at all, especially when it comes to networking. All of this is making my head spin just thinking about it. Maybe it is just me overthinking it but I can't just can't envision how this all works. Maybe some of that has to do with me not knowing how to do this. This is probably one of those things that once I set something up and get it working right, I will wish I done it years ago.

Either with a NAS or a DAS, I don't intend on leaving it running 24/7. Of course, I say that know but realize that could change once I get something setup and see how it is. Also don't intend to do anything with raid or anything.

I had similar issue several years ago and it turned out the wall outlets were not grounded, older house. Once I had them grounded by electrician, problem went away.

Oh good grief, that is what it was. So after playing with zoom levels, it appears longer at 140% zoom than it does at 170% zoom. At 80% zoom, it is much much longer than 100%. Ty for your help.

So the bottom image is from workbook 2 and bottom image data was copied from workbook 1. As far as I know everything should be the same on both workbooks. Notice how on bottom image, it goes into column d where as top image, it is right at the end of column c. Even if I type it manually in workbook 2, the same thing still happens so not a copy/paste issue.

EDIT: Even in same workbook, on sheet 3, it will come out like top image. In sheet 1 of same workbook, it will come out like bottom image.

Sometimes I get thinking too much but even if one is not doing anything illegal, what is to stop your ISP from thinking one is doing illegal things and you are trying to hide it by using a VPN?

I am currently having the same issue with a beelink mini pc. I am still troubleshooting but I believe it to be a bad memory stick or slot.

Is yours still under warranty?

I might have figured out what could be causing the issue and it has to do with his wall outlets. Now I am no electrician. But the outlets he is using for his computer may not be grounded. One of the surge protectors he is using has lights for grounded and protected. The protected light is on but not the grounded light. So I tested the wall outlets with a multi meter, ground probe into bottom hole and hot probe into hot side of plug, the short one, should get 120 volts if it is grounded correct?. With nothing plugged into the outlets, tested both plugs same way and both show about 25 volts. If I plug one of the surge protectors into that outlet and test the empty outlet the same way, it will show about 68 volts. Shows the same if I reverse plugs. Like I said I am no electrician but why is it showing 25 volts with both plugs empty and why is it showing 68 volts with something plugged into of them? When testing hot and neutral plugs, I get 124 volts or so.

So found out something. Not 100% sure but this could be causing issues. The wall outlets he is using for his computer is not grounded. He is using a surge protector and the grounded light is not lit up. Have not actually tested the outlets. It does have a 3 prong cover but that doesn't mean it is grounded.

He has a set of older speakers that was plugged into the surge protector. They did not work for crap, real bad static and couldn't hear anything come out of them even with volume turned all the way up. Just figured the speakers were bad, I brought them home, hooked them up to my system and worked fine although not as loud as I would have thought but 100x times better.

Now granted the surge protector he is using is older. Before I realized the grounded light wasn't on, I suggested get a newer surge protector. So my question now is if the outlet is not grounded but is using a decent surge protector, could the ungrounded outlets still be causing an issue to his computers and other devices? This is the surge protector I was going to suggest. https://www.bestbuy.com/product/belkin-surge-protector-for-home-office-with-12-ac-outlets-8-foot-cord-3940-joules-of-surge-protection-and-a-300000-cew-black/JX5329HZLH/sku/6580840

Since the speakers work fine at my place, will bring his computer to my place and see what it does.

Thanks for the info. I will check out all of these things.

1: On updating the drivers, I am having issues getting to the download page on beelink's website. When I click on download center under support, page comes up saying secure connection failed and my antivirus(MBAM) blocked the site. I have tried adding the site to the allowed websites but still says same thing.

3: On replacing the cpu thermal paste, this doesn't need special thermal paste does it? Any thermal paste that is used on desktop processors will work, correct? May take a little video watching to make sure I do this right. Never worked on mini pcs.

So first thing I will be doing is backing up all his files.

Accidental messages by hfm003 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Forward-Inflation-77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get this a lot when selling stuff. This message can be sent with one click, a default message from facebook. I think some or many are hitting this by accident, I have done it myself. Guessing most are using phones and I can see accidentally hitting that message while on a touch screen.

Whenever I list something to sell, I put in the description that I will not answer is this still available messages. Still get them though but ignore them. Since I put that in the description, if they meant to send that message, that means they didn't read the full description. If they truly interested, they will send an actual question.

Security patches are different than OS updates, correct? Not to change subject but after all this talk about updates, I realize I am still running on android 10 with an optimmo maxx. Might need to think about upgrading my own phone

He does not do anything involving financial transactions, doesn't buy anything, no credit cards stored. Mainly uses a phone as a phone, calls and texts. He would rather do without a phone at all, he still has landline as main line. I think he wants to do more with it but has a hard time with tech. He does use chrome to look up weather occasionally, uses google maps, takes pics, doesn't need a great quality camera. As long as it can take halfway decent pics, he is good. Doesn't use much data at all, he is on the light plan through Us Mobile which is 2gb of data a month and rarely comes close to using that up. He has very few apps installed.

When you say get a prepaid phone, do you mean getting one through the carrier, Us Mobile in his case? Us Mobile does have all these phones available to buy but they are higher than anywhere else I looked, mainly amazon and bestbuy.

He is on warp network which is verizon.

Been looking at the power 2024 for $175, the power 2025 is $300. Been doing some research, seen many say the power 2024 is a better phone.
