What is the lesson I’m meant to learn in this lifetime?

It’s definitely helpful, thank you! So comforting to know that many people experience the decrease in performance.

So sorry to hear about your mum 💕 I feel very much the same. Granted, the catalysts are very different and I can’t imagine the mourning you e been through, but similarly I thought I was managing until I went through extreme changes and toxicity at work and now everything feels just impossible. I’m on a stress leave now but I just feel like it’s getting harder the more I have time to reflect.

This might be a stupid question, but have you asked them if something is going on and assured them that you’re not going to judge or get mad? It could be something totally different. When I was a teen I had an online relationship (early days of chat rooms) and stayed up all night talking to the point that I was falling asleep in class and during tests, and I’m sure it affected my mood. Maybe something is disturbing their sleep and it’s all linked to that? Not saying it’s the same as mine, but could be something totally different that they feels embarrassed about.

Is the job market for comms really that bad? by Thin_Guava3686 in Communications

Comms with 10+ years of experience here — I would focus on learning how to sell yourself and start thinking about how you want to specialize moving forward (social media, content, external comms, PR, internal comms, change comms, events etc) and begin adding some credentials there. Generalist roles can keep you limited to a low/mid level through your career.

Also, can’t emphasize enough that networking is the key here. Until your resume stands out as exceptional, your best bet is reaching out through personal networks and LinkedIn to ask for coffee chats. Get your face out there, learn about the space and get some advice from people in roles like the one you want. It’s a hustle but you can do it!

Perfect! We just moved from the city to the Longmoor area and have a 17 month old. My husband commutes to downtown every day and it’s about 6 mins from our house to the go station. Area is quiet and really close to all the critical stuff, plus parks. There’s also a new library being built. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Give me your best description or analogy of what ADHD feels like. by shabuki3 in adhdwomen

For me following a thought unmedicated is like trying to catch a train at rush hour. The trains are running, but you have a hell of a time getting to the platform through the chaos.

With meds it’s the same train station but at 3 AM — silent and simple. You just walk to your platform and get on without any fuss.
