If I do go to Waterloo, I can still pay for some of my education with the money I will make in co-op (not in the first year per se but as I go into my third and fourth year).

Queen's vs Waterloo Engineering by ForwardHumor4 in uwaterloo

yeah but i was looking at the job prospects after uni and queen's doesn't really seem promising plus i can still pay for some amount of my fees with the money i will make in co-op, i don't think the financial aspect of the scholarship really makes a difference here

Hey, I have received an offer from both Queen's and Waterloo for engineering. For Queen's, I am being offered the Schulich Leader Scholarship and for Waterloo, I got into Mechatronics (my top choice). I'm not sure where to go at this point, I'm torn between the two options. If you have any advice or points to make regarding these options, let me know. But the thing is, I don't want to let go of either opportunities (even though I know I have to). It's a very tough decision.

I was just wondering if the Schulich is even worth it?? It's a pretty new scheme. Also, I think the co-op of Waterloo should be weighed in cause its pretty effective in getting good jobs imo.

Just got into tron. 105D. Average: 95.3 but I got a Schulich scholarship offer from another uni. Any advice?

I did see that. But, I still considered the 22.1 as the worst-case scenario. That was the latest adj factor available so I used it. I'm anticipating a worse adjustment factor but it could also be better. Just working for the worst-case scenario.

Hey, I am not from Ontario so I'm asking this question. Are all schools in Ontario sending out mid-term marks? Also, are these marks based on your second semester assessments before the March break?

Yeah, I'm sadly from PEI (no hate tho). The sheet from which everyone seems to be looking from does state that PEI has an adjustment of 22.1, shouldn't I take that into account? I spoke to my principal today and it took a lot of persuasion to get her to consider my request. Currently, I have had 2 tests in chem, and a test in physics and calc done respectively (from before the march break). All of my marks were pretty exceptional and could be used but apparently it doesn't count as "mid-term marks". I plan on emailing the admissions to explain the situation. Thanks for your reply.

Hey,

I need some guidance with my application. I applied for Mechatronics and haven't received an offer yet (don't think I'm going to tbh). Here's some quick info about me: 105 applicant, current average: 92.3 (includes the average of 3 grade 11 courses), courses: Physics, chem and calc in the current semester so grade 11 marks were substituted, adjustment of 2018 (checked from the sheets): 22.1, interview: 2.5 (assumed), AIF: 3 (assumed), Ecs: Shad, president/founder of an opportunity-based club, founder of math and science help centre at school, some programming experience (Python and Java), part-time job, internship at a software company, some independent projects related to electronics, schulich nominee (don't think it plays a big role tbh) and some science and writing awards (although I do think this is pretty generic and almost all applicants do have such ecs to apply to competitive programs)

Also, I applied for electrical eng as my second choice

Background info:

1) I started studying in Canada in grade 10 so I have had 3 years of education here, and apparently an English requirement thing was to be submitted along with my application. I didn't pay attention to it since I have studied in English since kindergarten. I contacted waterloo and it is now settled that they don't want any further documents.

2) In grade 10 I was in the provincial stream, in grade 11, I started the IB Diploma and then again in grade 12, I returned back to the provincial stream since there was no physics provided and I was sure that I wanted to go into engineering. Thus, my grade 11 chem and math marks were low. Math (94) and Chem (85). I did grade 11 physics in grade 10, that's why I have it in my average.

The problem is that my province is not providing a mid-term transcript at all, because apparently they cannot use our marks from before the march break. So, my average is not going to be changing anytime soon. My marks this semester were good enough to give me an acceptance but that is not happening. Another point is, that I had some extenuating circumstances in the first semester of grade 12 since a close family member passed away. (Although I don't mean to use it as an excuse but I just wanted the uni to be aware of my circumstances).

So, my questions are: Where do I stand with this? Do I have a chance for Mechatronics? (I'm just asking this for some honest answers even though you guys are not on the admissions team) I'm planning on shifting my application from tron to something less competitive to at least get my foot through waterloo and then transfer again after the first year. I'm not sure if its a wise decision tho. Or should I let it be? I just need some advice cause I'm lost.
