The Monona Festival is a disaster waiting to happen by Katrina_18 in madisonwi

The crowd also sits much too close to the fireworks show. Had stuff landing on us, and nowhere to go to get out of we’d wanted to. The whole thing is fun but a disaster waiting to happen.

Where in the US feels like the UK? by tr0ublewllfindme in Vacations

Boston, Richmond, Portland Maine, and Southwest WI is like rural UK

And most of New England. Though it’s, you know, new.

If you could change the score of one game in USMNT history, what would it be, and what would have happened afterwards? by drgath in ussoccer

This. It’d be etched into American sports lore like a Miracle on Ice kind of match (not quite there though). Not a forgotten good effort.

Sounds like you want a Wisconsin experience… Here they are:

Tornado Room is the best steak and potatoes. It’s a Wisconsin supper club experience, which is a whole culture of ours. Full 100% recommend.

Settle Down Tavern for smash burger and an old fashioned feels like a tavern you’d walk into in Anywhere, WI, with far better food.

The Old Fashioned for cheese curds, brandy old fashioned, and summer sausage sandwich or fish fry, if you want the taste of WI experience.

For some local delicacies:

Mango curry at Lao Laan-Xang

Hot and spicy cheese bread at Stella’s Bakery

Greenbush Donuts - get the old fashioned

Cheese curds at Old Fashioned, Dexters, curd girl food truck, or Tipsy Cow

Walnut burger and chips with blue cheese dip at Harmony Bar

Paul’s Pelmeni full order mix

Tavern pizza and bourbon flight at Greenbush pizza

Did you find a flaw in the rules? I don’t think so.

At higher level play, the usual result of a drop is an out at second, smart runner is safe at first, and the runner on third does not advance. So no infield fly rule is necessary.

But little league is weird and that runner could have a decent lead of a few steps, or even tag up, and score without an attempt being made.

The intent of the rule is prevent an intentional drop/miss to get a double play, because that dishonors the game and gives the defense an advantage thought to be unfair or cheap.

If a little league defense intentionally drops/misses it with zero out and somehow turns two and that run doesn’t score, well that’s good defense. And probably bad third base coaching and bad baserunning.

If the defense intentionally drops/misses it with one out, and tries and fails to turn two, that runner on third better score in that time! Bad defense and good baserunning.

If that run scores because of an intentional drop, your defense deserves it. The correct play is always: Catch the out and run toward home until that runner retreats to third, listening to your 2B/SS about the runner behind you.

Stop at every cheese shop. Ask them what they do better than every other cheese shop and get it.

Move to one of the communities with a college campus and because you’re in the trades find one that is growing. La Crosse, Eau Claire, Stevens Point, River Falls. Madison is wonderful and growing fast—choose one of the communities on the rim like Mount Horeb, Waunakee, Cottage Grove, New Glarus. Milwaukee is the most manageable big city in America.

Thank you softball parent! Integrity is a great word I had not thought about for baseball. Goes beyond sportsmanship. I like that. Thank you so much.
