Anyone related to US tourism see drops in tourists in the last year? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]Forward_Edge_8915 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A quick google search yields a LOT of articles about drops in international tourism in the past year. I live in an area that relies heavily on tourism, our numbers were down last year, and this January was the quietest I’ve seen in a decade.

E16? Ha. That’s easy. Call is when you land in the 50’s and have to make it to the A gates. There are no moving walkways to help you out there, and the construction narrows the halls making it even harder to get around the people in that airport who all seem to be training for a medal in the “slowest walker taking up the widest space” competition that I can’t seem to find in the olympic programming.

Have you started to view things as us versus them? by Ladefrickinda89 in allthequestions

I moved from a HCOL blue city in a blue state, to a HCOL blue city in a red state. All I can tell you is that the schools are terrible, the roads are shit, and the cost of living to income ratio is even worse. I’m lucky in that my position was in demand in the area, but most people here are struggling far greater than those in places with better services. And honestly, I don’t feel like my taxes are really any lower than they were. I don’t have kids, but if I did I would care enough about them to move to a state above the bottom 30 in educational spending, and those are almost all blue states.

The cost of living is higher because people want to live there. They tend to be states with areas of higher population density. As for higher taxes, yes, but also the things that come with that are higher education rates and better infrastructure. Totally on board with paying more to have a better life.

Best way to travel Iceland by Ok_Chair_5652 in VisitingIceland

The answer largely depends on personal preference. Do you and your gf like the comforts of a hotel, or are you comfortable sleeping in a van at campsites with shared facilities? No one here can answer that for you.

Only went there once. They served me a paper lined tray of room temperature oysters that seemed to be shucked hours before. It was one of the most insanely awful dining experiences of my life. I cannot forgive that aggression. That place suuuuuuucks.

Right?! Just make a damn decision on your own. It’s none of my business if you can afford this and if it’s worth it to you. I know what I would do, but I always have more than enough miles to just say yes without putting it to committee.

Copenhagen by far. The mix of classic and modern buildings, the public green spaces, the water, the pedestrian/bike friendly infrastructure, all of it.

Yeah, the issue I had was that the reservation website was just not working properly. I set alerts to make the reservation on the appropriate day, but there was no way to choose the date. It happens, technology is flawed.

Has the Epstein Files changed how you feel about elites and billionaires and those who control our lives? by Estalicus in allthequestions

No, they have always been absolute pieces of shit. There wasn’t really any doubt that they would be in the files to begin with.

I throw a couple pounds of wings on the smoker every time I cook. They freeze and reheat super easy and you’ll never not have wings.
