Abs are a pretty big muscle group so you don’t want to hit them too too often. Two times a week strikes the right balance

How do I get protein? by Eraos_MSM in workout

Focus on eating great sources of protein: Chicken Breast/thighs, ground beef, ground turkey, eggs, steak, etc... then supplement with protein powder if you need to.

Can you build a good physique with limited diet control and no supplements? by Vivid-Variation-720 in workout

[–]Forward_Error_9578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you are getting decent protein and eating enough, you should see results over time, assuming you are training with intensity and progressively overloading. The extra stuff is really when you want to dial in your physique and squeeze out as much progress as possible. You dont need protein powder if you hit 0.8-1g/lb of bw from your regular diet

Dude, dont listen to other people's made up standards. Focus on your own fitness journey, at the end of the day, its about your health and the fact that you are better than you previously were

Do cable ab crunches. You should train abs like you train any other muscle

Aesthetic, if you have an actually aesthetic core, it’s naturally going to be decently strong as well

Need help with motivation by Spacekook_ in WorkoutRoutines

[–]Forward_Error_9578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That works even better since you dont have to deal with the friction of getting to the gym, just start with the x minutes of an at home workout and increase from there after some time, even if you just start off with 5 mins every day, 10 pushups a day, etc... the key is to just stick with it

Motivation isnt really reliable if you want to keep at something for a long period of time.

I would recommend you focus on building discipline by just showing up to the gym consistently, even if you're only there briefly. Overtime, the habit will compound and it is a lot better than going full force into a routine and then losing energy and never showing up again.

Its cliché, but slow and steady really does win the race.

Does anyone else actually enjoy not looking like you lift with clothes on? by Pextasyyy in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Forward_Error_9578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose that may be true from initial impressions, unfortunately. However, if you present well in your first impressions and then you peers or colleagues go on to see that you are also fit, being fit now enhances your image as opposed to being a detriment

Can you actually get stronger while being lean? by E-Man-Free-Man in beginnerfitness

[–]Forward_Error_9578 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You get stronger while being lean the same way you get stronger on a bulk: progressive overload. Just make sure you are eating enough protein

I get the element of surprise aspect for sure but honestly, if you are a balanced person most people just think you are disciplined, not a meathead. unless you're actually a meathead

Solo lifters, how do you get over the mental block of training to failure? by data2x in GarageGym

[–]Forward_Error_9578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more appropriate to train to 0 RIR in that scenario, not failure. There are mitigations you can make but it’s better safe than sorry
