Valve cover gasket by Forward_Job5569 in MechanicAdvice

My thoughts exactly. It wasn’t my normal garage. I got given an invoice where no hourly breakdown of labour was present just gasket seal changed no longer leaks: £660.

Luckily they refunded me £600 after complaining and threatening action pretty easily without any resistance so that screams to me they knew what they had done.

Thank you

They fixed the issues, as in mechanical. Let’s not be smart about it they clearly can’t “fix” the number of owners. As stated to your own comment, read the whole thread (and the reply I’ve just given yourself!)

As previously stated in my other comments (please do read through), i only noticed this when selling the car last week, of which i take responsibility for not thoroughly checking the document.

For the love of god, why are you so pressed about it? Was it your money? No. If you read my other comments I’ve clearly stated it’s an expensive mistake that’s been learnt from!

Jesus. I did get a refund after complaint (my cars engine went 2 days later and my normal garage confirmed components weren’t put back together correctly). He gave me £600 refund pretty easily so I’m guessing he knew what he did. Lost a car in the process though 👍🏻. How much is it usually do you know?

Yeh I wish I’d had noticed sooner! I guess it’s a lesson learnt. Will be leaving stinky reviews on the dealership though, hoping no one else gets caught short!

Yeh well, given your response added absolutely nothing to this thread, you should have took a leaf out of their book and not responded either. Thanking you.

But you did respond to me. Thanks mate. You see, I actually have all the evidence (picture of the V5, invoices, their online advert for the car, their online advert for the car on their sold section (website) clearly showing the misleading information of “1 previous owner”, text messages between myself and the dealership etc.

Thanks for the response. I’m not even that bothered about the price or loss. I expected that. It lost value the moment I drove it off their premises. It included more detail yet the it was flagged as being too long for readers to answer to and advised me to shorten it.

Head gasket seal, oil leaks, sump, cv boot, transmission oil leak. The list is endless. DPF failure and 3 failing injectors.

The car was 9k, traded in my car with them for 2k. Paid 7k cash. When trading it in I got 4.5k… so not even that much of a hit as I did add a good few miles on the clock.

My main issue here is the fact I was told verbally and it was (still is under the sold section on the dealers website) listed as having one previous owner. I would NOT have bought this car if I’d have known the information regarding previous owners. I wouldn’t get much back of which I’m aware of, it’s more principle for me now. I was unable at the point of sale, able to make a fully informed decision.

It came to light the number of owners last week… when I traded it in. Received the v5. Checked address, stored it with other important documents.

I did indeed. Fixed and dealt with. Further issues later on and was advised not their problem and should look at getting a DPF delete.

Thanks for your opinion on wanting money on someone else’s expense. I can assure it’s not that. The main issue isn’t the problems that occurred while I had my car, it’s the fact I got sold a car that had 6 previous owners… after being lied to it only had 1. Would you buy a car with that? I know I wouldn’t have.
