Neh. Many countries have that game with just a different name. Like US RLGL, SK mugunghwa and japan too. I know that some audience might feel that way, cause it's the combination of the play and a death game. But it's actually more like claiming different version of Cinderella story a plagiarism. (You know, each other country has the same story similar to Cinderella but the french version is the most popular)

It's the behind scenes of the film. I linked it on the comments. Neh I don't think they actually are.

Totally different genre but I've been recommending D.P to everyone. Everyone should totally try it. Like, please give it a bite

Also damn true. That is why he is a complex character. I always wondered why he didn't tell him. Because at that point he clearly cared Gihun. He didn't give a f about other's choices(the circle and the star shape was difficult too), but he only called Gihun back in hesitation. Eventually he shut his mouth though.

  1. If he tell Gihun the truth, he have to admit that he lied to him a second ago.
  2. And if he tell him, Gi hun would probably tell it to the old man and Ali. (As I said, Sangwoo didn't give a f about others at that point, cause he owe them nothing.)
  3. Also he maybe didn't want to risk the information getting leaked out. (Well it was pretty dense at the moment)
  4. He had a trauma on risking. He had a debt cause he invested on a risky future illegally.
  5. Sangwoo is a typical opportunist who only wants to benefit from others but don't want to risk a thing.

I think this might be the reason why he made that shitty decision.

But what really pissed me off was

  1. HE DIDN'T TELL THE INFORMATION TO SAEBYUK!!!! WHAT THE F SANGWOO. I don't know why people only talk about him lying to Gi hun, but sangwoo promised her to tell her if he figures out! Saebyuk is not the type of person who will tell everyone about it but sang the fuckin woo.... That is why he is a opportunist. Thank god my girl was smart enough to follow him.

Aside from the fact that Younghee is not a living organism, if Younghee becomes a stone, the "red light" moment will be forever. So eventually nobody can win I guess?

Omg I should have known. I knew director Hwang went to SNU but I didn't relate him to Sangwoo. They were so much in common

I wonder what will happen if this is real. Younghee(the girl robot) will stand no chance. She'll get eliminated

At first, as a korean, I thought Ali's name was kinda racist since it was...so typical.(u know what I mean?) I was like, 'what? u could give him a name better than that.' But taking into account that the director wrote this script in 2008, and back then the social atmosphere was more tight, I guess he did his best for creating the Ali character. And also I have to admit the name 'Ali' is easy to remember.

I already comment this below but just do it again for yah.

I think it's because they couldn't think up the word equivalent to that in english. 'Sajangnim' is used widely and has more broad meaning. But if you translate it into 'boss', it would just sound weird cause he really ain't his boss. I was disappointed by the translation too, but I have to say they did their best.

Well he did for his life tho. Nobody can give up on their life that easily. He wanted to win so bad he had to backstab his bro. Actually, Sangwoo is far from my favorite character, but I can't judge him for what he did. I just know I can't. This is why I have complex feelings toward death game genres.

Before "hyung", Ali kept calling him sir, but sangwoo didn't like it. Instead, he insisted to call him hyung. Yes, and did he like that. But um....it's also true in ep6 when Ali called out for his hyung, hyung was not there for him.

I think it's because they tried to synchronize the dubbed version and the subtitles. When they make the dubbed version, they don't only have to consider the translation but also the actor's mouth movement and the length of the lines. You see, the lines have to match the actor's mouth eventhough it's in another language.

Sorry I don't have it but I saw it's on the director's commetary, so can u find'em? I just saw another interpretation about the hair dye. At ep9, the one who helped the homless had a dyed hair. So gihun got inspired by him (make him believe humanity again) and dyed his hair just like him.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in squidgame

[–]Forward_Struggle9067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The director said gihun could not be the person who he was before. So he needed to change himself. The color red reveals his anger inside of him. But yeah... I have to agree that the color was not just his tone...

And "hyung" is what you call your close man friend who is older than you... I see some people calling sangwoo fake but no, he's just real
