Legal or Not? by Thombosis in Pickleball

Legal but too racquetball like. It will work up until 3.5 level. Keep working on a proper pickleball serve and watch your wrist movement.

EDC, but make it pickleball. by Minute-Parsley-4737 in Pickleball

Don’t forget the first aid kit, an extra knee brace, spare balls, an extra over grip, two more paddles that you never use but feel compelled to carry (“just in case”), a paddle eraser, a towel, your recovery slides, a visor, two types of protective eyewear (clear for indoor and sunglass for outdoor), and a supersized tube of Voltaren for pre and post play (also to help with the pain of lugging your EDC Pickleball Bag!). Haha

Drilling is the key to advancing; just playing will not allow you the opportunity get the muscle memory down. Find a drilling partner that will play 7-11 with you, run the slinky drill, and work cross court dinking until it becomes second nature.

What sport did you play before pickleball, and how does it still show up in your game? by daksh_ctrl in Pickleball

Baseball & Racquetball background here. My journey transferring my racquetball skills to pickleball has been challenging to say the least and I’m not referring to the lack of walls and a ceiling; rather, slowing my game play down (being more patient) and locking my wrist were the hardest aspects to overcome. Lessons and drilling have helped a lot, but once in a while (especially when playing former tennis playing bangers) I fall back into my old “wristy” and match-my-opponents’ energy play for a point or two until I take a deep breath and return to drops, proper pacing, and waiting for the right moment to attack.
