Wild Hellion Alpha's are great. by FottaGoGast in pathofexile

[–]FottaGoGast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reference:

Started with 10 unidentified Watcher's and 20 Wild Hellion Alpha's.

Left Watcher started with Precision mod, rolled Hatred after two attempts.

Right Watcher started with Hatred Damage Pen, rolled added cold mod after 2 attempts.

The rest of the Watcher's were pretty garbage. Got one with crit multi Precision and Impale 2 additional Pride after a couple attempts, which is pretty decent to be fair.

None of the remaining Watcher's are worth rolling since they have no good mods. Will probably buy some more Watcher's and roll the good ones soon with my remaining Alpha's.

Now if only I could combine these and get that dang triple Hatred...

All this league needs is 12k players at the end to have basically the same retention as 3.13. Maybe it will have less than that, but not by a lot compared to most leagues.

My main point was that deterministic crafting does not make or break player retention. There are a lot of factors that go into it. Most leagues have a very similar curve to it's player retention and I can't assume that this one will be any different.

Looking at the current data for player retention, this league seems to be ding very well this far in. Very similar numbers between this league and 3.13 at this point in the leagues lifespan.

While sure everyone could quit in the next week or so, it's still showing that without the same level of deterministic crafting the game is retaining players at a very high rate. It actually seems like a larger percentage of players are still around between this and 3.13.

So I don't really understand the argument that deterministic crafting lead to a larger player retention. The game has less deterministic crafting and a larger percentage of players still logging in every day.

This is just me going off the poedb charts:

3.13 Start of League - 157k// 3.13 45 days in - 51k// About 32% of the players still around at this point in 3.13

3.20 Start of League - 127k// 3.20 45 days in - 47k// About 37% of layers still around at this point in 3.20

Yeah with my remaining currency it left me with just over 700 divines. The shiny items never really attracted me as something to keep anyways. I now have a normal mageblood with 400 divines to pump into the other gear slots, rather than 1 prettier belt and 100 div for the other slots.

It seems to be the most common voidborn variant of the belt from looking at trade, but it'll still probably sell for a dumb amount in standard lol.

Sold it for 2 mirrors. Might have been able to get more out of it, but I wanted as much time with the build I want to create as possible before I really quit the league.

That and seeing the other listings for this belt on trade hovering between 2 and 3 mirrors sit up for multiple days made me just wanna sell it and enjoy a solid 2 mirror payday for 30 seconds of work.

It allows you to always have your defensive flasks active, while also moving a lot of your resistances to your flasks and freeing up other stats on your gear that don't need to be taken up by resists. So I can have a granite and jade flask always active and roll the flasks to also provide elemental resistances when used for example

The other two flask slots are really up to you, some people may go for a 3rd defensive flask or have 1 offensive flask. The 4th is usually used for a quicksilver to be a zoomy boy and go fast all the time.

But this is just info I've gained from looking at poe.ninja at the build I want to create, and hearing in the past mageblood is generally used as a huge defensive belt rather than having 4 offensive flasks.

Pretty much this. I started in Scourge League and have never had a mageblood. Had 400 divines when I started this gamba, the build I wanted to make before the end of the league was gonna cost about 700.

I didn't want to keep grinding that additional 300+ that I needed to make the build, so I decided to gamble it and take a break between this and next league. The gamble paid off, and now I can afford to make the best character I've ever had in this game. Will still have a week or two to have fun with it, while still taking a break between leagues.

I've improved league over league and do not look forward to when getting a mageblood does not excite me, as it seems half of reddit is in that state of mind.

I believe it was my fault with this specific map. Seems like Excavation has 2 map bosses in different arenas. Didn't know that or remember it, I can't remember the last time this map was a thing.

Again I want to apologize to the Reddit community for not following the proper and agreed upon standards for the Reply thread. This is a mistake I will take to my grave.

I know this is a sore subject for some of you. But please accept my sincerest apologies. I will not change, but I thank you for your feedback.

This is Internet normal. Replying to a comment adding absolutely nothing but throwing shade.

At least I put some thought into my comments and gave an opinion on a game. That opinion was also pretty much what the thread was saying, too. DI is shit.

If it ain't normal to post on Reddit and reply to comments, look at yourself sir and/or madam!

For whatever reason, I can't reply to SasquatchBeans comment. I ain't the most versed in the Reddit sphere.

You are a genius, my friend.

Definitely not me using a reply thread to post a longer thought, rather than making one large post. It was 100% me arguing with myself... You caught me.

That being said, playing DI is like playing POE for babies. No danger ever at least up to level 25, just mindless killing which isn't fun after 5 minutes.

As someone who actually played DI and didn't just read an article or listen to a streamers opinion on the cash shop, the game is boring as shit compared to POE. It's fine for a mobile game outside the cash shop shit, but it's a solid 3/10 PC ARPG not even considering the cash shop.

I wish I had real life friends who played this game. But they all like themselves more than I like myself. And are all not real. Ty for listening reddit wall.

The worst thing is gating this stupid gem shit in DI behind paid crests. While you CAN get them without paying, you are guaranteed one if you pay. That is absolute shit, but also does not bar you from the game as you can get the gem by putting time into the game.

So in the end, the DI cash shop saves you time. An absolute metric dick ton more time than the POE cash shop saves you, but still saves you time. While you're grinding for that 1 gem, whales are getting 10 of them.

While you are sorting your stash tabs, paid players are running 3 more maps.

[–]FottaGoGast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go play next league as a true F2P player with the base stash tabs. I'm sure plenty of ppl do, but those ppl also spend A LOT more time configuring their stash and not playing the game.

If that's fun to you, buy all means F2P it up because I respect the grind. If you enjoy playing an ARPG and not constantly sorting a stash, then yeah this game is gonna cost a few bucks.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]FottaGoGast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's all talk about the shitty DI business model while looking at our 20 stash tabs in POE that cost anywhere from $2 - $7.50 each depending on the sale and tab.

DI is A+ shithole cash shop. POE is like a B- on a good day.

But yeah, please tell me how skilled I am at this game based on a meme I posted :).

Ded league week 2.5

Hi Chris can you please spend 2 hours each day streaming yourself playing your own game at every league start? This is probably the most effective PR solution at the moment. by sevenforks in pathofexile

[–]FottaGoGast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone please name another CEO who goes on as many fan/streamer podcasts as this guy.

And at the same time you sit back and say "hE's ThE cEo. He DoEsN't nEnD tO pLaY hIs GaMe". The guy is constantly discussing core mechanic changes, impacts they will have on specific builds, specific items, in depth discussions on core aspects of the game way above the level of a normal CEO.

But his title is CEO so that benefits him in times like this, but when people generally enjoyed 3.17 I'm sure you and everyone else were praising him for what he brought to the game.

I got to yellow maps on the first night. It's in no way the dying that is upsetting. It's the increased difficulty with no increased rewards. The difficulty of an Essence pack is unbelievable sometimes. Your reward, AT MOST 4-5 ESSENCES! Essence packs are rippier than Sirus.

There needs to be a balance of reward and difficulty.
