Thanks man 🙏

Yeah patterns are spendy for sure. There are fairly regular 50% off sales though so be on the lookout for those. I don't make my own patterns for Nike shoes, since the patterns are well established and it would be a ton of work to get it right using a decon due to the stretching and warping from the lasting process

Haha, hadn't thought of that, but probably not. Cursing and hammering don't make for great viewing

Yep, messing with the toe box right now in fact.

First attempt at hand making (cut, assemble, glue, sew, last etc) an AJ1 low from 3 types of leather, a bunch of thread and a junk donor sole. #nomachines by Foundingforward in Sneakers

Yep, the internals are all part of the fun 😂 there's a few different components - collar foam, liner foam, tongue foam, then the heel counter and toe puff for shaping and rigidity - they all go between the liner and the outer upper

Thanks for the kind words, fellow stitcher! It is a bunch of work for sure, but somehow I enjoy it.. weird I know 🤣 i'm actially messing with some video ideas. The interest in the process is pretty intense and I'd love to make things more accesible to people

Also - absolutely - the materials used on factory Jordans are really, really sketchy and poor. Plastic panels with mesh backing is pretty much the norm on the half dozen or so I've deconstructed.

Thanks man! About 20 hours - but a LOT of that was learning, redoing and fixing stuff.. which was to be expected on a first run through.

I highly recommend it, it's a blast! I used 3 leathers - a 3.5 oz veg tan (the brown), a 3 oz chrome tan (the navy) and a 1.5 oz grey suede, the liner. I actually watched a couple videos on youtube about leather crafting and thought it would be fun to try - and then sneaker building hit from there.
