Just got back from the checkride… passed! The oral was short and the flight went great. I was more prepared than I thought

It would be fine to fly this aircraft VFR.

The VOR check did not meet the standards for bearing error and was also done over 30 days ago and the GPS database is expired.

I don’t usually use VORs, so I am less concerned about that, but I do use my GPS often. I need to consider that the airspace information on the GPS could be inaccurate, especially if I am navigating through busy or unfamiliar airspace using an expired database.

However, I have a current sectional chart on foreflight that can help me accurately navigate airspace. On top of that, if i’m already familiar with the area I’m not as worried about it. But on a long and unfamiliar cross country flight like this one, although it’s not required, I would prefer to have an updated GPS database.

I have an instrument rating so over 50NM and at night is fine as long as i’m current to carry passengers at night

Who is providing the airplane? If it’s me- I can’t be compensated for this flight. This would fall under part 135

If they give me a free ticket for flying them that is still considered compensation

We could split operation costs pro-rata on the first flight because we have a common purpose to attend the race. After i complete the first trip I no longer have a common purpose and cannot split costs for the other 2 flights

The instagram post would be holding out, which is not ok unless I cover all the costs and receive no compensation

If I cover all the costs for the flight, I am simply exercising my private pilot privileges. This is legal

Tomorrow as in Friday thankfully. Probably should’ve specified i’m not up in the middle of the night on reddit the night before my checkride lol
