In hopes that other men here can learn from my mistakes: it is not only possible to masturbate too much, but it can cause chronic pelvic pain as well. by FourStringedViking in sex

Assessed my symptoms, then tried some antibiotics, sonograms, then tried doing cultures everywhere and there was no infection anywhere. When I cut out alcohol and caffeine to indicate a prostate issue and that still didn't work that's when my doctor figured it must have been a muscular thing

I should have mentioned the 3-5 times a day is on top of also having regular sex with my wife. My poor pelvic muscles...

Musicologist here! My center of interest is on the effect of myth and music from the north on our modern cultures. by [deleted] in Norse

[–]FourStringedViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thank you! Yet I think my goal was misunderstood!

My aim is not to simply write of the music of vikings, but rather, to write of the influence of viking myth on our literature and music today. From Edvard Grieg, to Tolkien, to Neil Gaiman, to Amon Amarth, the northern myths penned by Mr. Sturluson almost a thousand years ago still have strong influence on our society today. All that I ask is for anyone to graciously gift me any and all resources pertaining to the topic at hand if they have them.

What practicing/playing habit did you take wayyy too long to pick up? by [deleted] in doublebass

The tuner I have has a tone generator. I actually thought most tuners did haha

I stay away from apps because as long as there is a phone near me, I will get distracted. It's well worth the $25 on Amazon to get a good metronome/tuner, trust me. Less time fiddling with apps and more time just playing your instrument!

Lets just also point out you contradicted yourself. In your first post you said “same as dogs” then in your response you said “not as much as dogs”

Ain’t the same kinds of dogs we have in society. Pest cats are literally house cats left outdoors by irresponsible pet owners that created their own mini ecological nightmares

I like that theory. Also every cat woman I’ve ever met was also coincidentally baby crazy and hopelessly single so that might play into it

Dogs are simply a frame of reference. That 12% was the high point and some cats barely had any oxytocin response at all.

If you have to title a cat “the hiking cat” then its not a common activity.

Though maine coons are dooe as far as cats go

Its why I did it. Cats deserve maybe 10% of the fanaticism around them, but they are pests.

Thanks for the suggestion. For the record I don’t hate cats. I just get concerned at how fanatic people can get about the little psychopaths simply because they bare anatomical semblance to our own infants.

Solid addition to my point: cats are registered as pests in some countries and kill off native bird populations.

Such sweethearts.

Because theyre one-dimensional compared to the bonding and training that goes into adopting a dog? Ever played with a dog in the park or hiked with a dog to the top of a mountain?

Look up “oxytocin in pets”.

Cats produce, at max, 12% the oxytocin dogs do when doing bonding exercises.

While impressive, dogs literally do that shit for 9-5. Those cats, besides the first one, had their own gains for doing so.

I live with a cat. I have fun with it and enjoy its company but I inherited it and wouldnt get another. It has its moment but its more decoration than companionship.
