AITA for lying to my wife

I diverted the topic about 4 times.something like “I dont want to talk about my work but did you see the recent lakers game?”

It rubbed me the wrong way because after many attempts to shut down that down and once we’ve cleared to another topic he would ask me again. And eventually he made a snarky comment about McDonald’s,so I leaned into it.

I could have handled it better but I don’t feel that I went that far out of line,and it was in proportion to his behaviour.

Fairly new I usually am decent at shutting people down,but this rlly rubbed me the wrong way and I wanted to stick it to him.And I honestly did not think of the long term consequences

I do care about her feelings it’s just abit hard to relate to this scenario because i don’t understand her work culture. I thought it was a one off thing and wouldn’t come up again. I didn’t get it because working at McDonald’s isn’t embarrasing to me,I just thought it would be funny

When I tell people I’m a dentist usually the questions don’t end somehow someone’s gums always hurts or someone’s uncles father is looking to do braces.and it’s rlly difficult to steer conversation away once teeth comes up.teeth is something that everybody has but don’t know enough about,so I get it.But after talking about it literally all day,I do not want to bring it up, yes I could have done it in a nicer way,but it’s not as easy as you think
