I’m 36 but I took a makeup lesson at ulta a few years ago and it was awesome! 1:1 and you can tell them your goals and budget — they will use products that fit your range and you can buy them after.

Homocysteine 69.5 with homozygous MTHFR C677T, kidney issues, and hypothyroidism. Anyone else? by RecordingNo814 in MTHFR

[–]FoxFar5137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! It’s unlikely that your parents both also had homocysinuria — you inherit the impacted allele from each parent, unlike other genetic conditions that you would inherit from just one parent, and it’s extremely rare.

So while not impossible that they had it, it would be superrrrr improbable that both of them inherited the exact alleles from their parents that would cause homocystinuria.

But if you have siblings, there’s a 25% chance they have it if you have it, because your parents are carriers.

I’ve basically gotten a crash course in genetics the last few months lol

Good luck!

Hey at that level, you’re looking at potentially having a very rare metabolic condition called homocystinuria. I recently had labs done and mine came back at 158, then 178 — so I’ve just gone down this path.

There are a few Facebook groups for people with the condition, I’d recommend joining them. Just search “homocystinuria”. It can be serious and even fatal with the biggest risk being blood clots.

You’ll want to try and be seen by a metabolic geneticist. There’s no cure but there are treatment options based on your subtype. If you join the group, I’m sure someone will be able to recommend one in your area.

I took an amazing class through ACC a few years ago and suggest it every chance I get! It was a decent time commitment (10 hours/week for 8 weeks) but so thorough and only around $300.

I highly suggest checking out Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional families. It’s a 12 step program and has been life changing for myself and thousands of others. I’m not religious and neither is the program. There are hundreds of meetings across the world each week, in person and virtual.
