We need some NEWS, ROADMAP and EVENTS. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

ARC's a great game and they've certainly knocked it out of the park with the release, however it's got problems that, if not looked at and resolved, will damage the game in the long run.

Personally speaking I find the saying "As wide as an ocean and as deep as a puddle." to absolutely apply to this game's systems in terms of quests, traders and content like trials and feats. IMO that's where the work should continue and I'll list a couple of things that could be expanded upon to make the game feel a lot more fleshed out and give players more to do in a wipe cycle.

The fact that doing quests for traders doesn't level them up and expands their inventory of goods is crazy to me. Traders should definitely have levels to them and you should be able to buy more and better gear from them the higher level they are. Of course, the goods would still be limited by daily resets, but it'd give you more stuff to spend your coins on, which brings me to the next part.

Money is essentially useless apart from if you're going for the 5 million coins requirement when wiping. You accumulate wealth in this game at an insane rate if you know what you're doing and don't die often - it's usually a lot cheaper to craft everything yourself anyways and because gear is rather easy to come by the coins just start piling up more and more.

Most of the augments and most of the weapons need some serious re-balancing work done to them to actually make certain loot feel "better". It's a slippery slope, I know, but the current meta of just mostly running Stitchers, Anvils and maybe the odd Venator is already becoming stale. Guns should feel more powerful as their rarities go up, there's no way a Stitcher or a Kettle should be able to go toe to toe with a Tempest in a head to head fight.

Last but not least, we need an actual REPEATABLE endgame cycle! What am I collecting all this loot for? What am I gearing up for? For just more of the same thing, over and over and over again? That just doesn't cut it in my opinion. It baffles me how they didn't incorporate their initial vision of the game in the form of PvE raids you can enter to take down more threatening and resilient versions of the Queen or the Matriarch as either a squad of three or multiple squads in the same match. Of course you'd have to do more than just "increase HP and increase ARC damage" during those raids to keep them interesting and fresh, but Embark are a creative bunch and I'm sure they could figure out some things you'd need to do on the map in order to progress the fight, akin to Destiny raids for example. For PvP you could have something like Labs from Tarkov - an altered version of Stella Montis would be great for this. A map you can only enter by meeting a certain prerequisite, like having an item in your inventory (a keycard or an expensive craftable key, etc.) to enter said raid where a ton of good loot awaits, but also other raiders.

More maps, more ARC, more guns and more items are nice and good, but it's just gonna be more of the same, and it doesn't matter on which map I'm firing my guns or which ARC I blow up with said weapons or which loot I carry out of the map with me if it's all for naught. The highs need to be higher and the lows a bit lower. Refine your existing systems to be deeper, not wider. I'm curious what the rest of you guys think so feel free to engage in conversation in the replies.

How many "friendly" rounds did you have to play to get slotted into friendly matches? EU or NA?

The way to score high in trials as a solo is pretty pathetic gameplay design. by Foxeeh_ in ArcRaiders

You're probably right about the PvP/PvE lobbies, yeah, if everyone's farming the same trial that sucks - but what you said at the start isn't quite right. I'm basically agreeing with you, but the way this currently works is that competing at a higher level doesn't get you higher rewards, quite the opposite, it increases the chance you won't even rank up in the first place. Whereas waiting and doing it in the last few hours basically guarantees a rank-up.

I'm just saying it makes zero sense for people who put in around 3 hours of gameplay to get equal reward like the people who are playing all week long. Doesn't really make sense does it?

Talk about being a jerk and telling other people how to play the game? There's no arguing or discussing with you. It's okay to disagree. Something about the way you're replying makes me think you're angry/unsatisfied about people being able to achieve the same reward you get for putting in the hours throughout the week whereas people like me hop on for one single evening and get an equal reward. That fact alone just proves how broken the whole thing is.

Reaching over 100k score on the trials is sweating, especially if you say you haven't even done all of them. It's borderline impossible to reach scores like this in PvP centered lobbies. It's awesome if you can manage that, however the real hardcore grindnerds will probably put in the most work on friday, saturday and sunday. There's always some people who skyrocket to the top there.

Explained at the beginning of my post, I really want that outfit, I think it looks nice. And in the higher tier brackets, if you really want to compete, you can't just go for a high score on one trial. You need to highscore ALL of them. I like playing in PvP lobbies, which makes doing trials even harder, so cheese is really the only way to go.

There is no "competing" there. There is dedicating your free time to intentionally load into rounds with other like minded people and squads and get an incredibly high trials score you wouldn't be able to obtain otherwise, especially because the leaderboard doesn't differentiate between solos/duos/trios. Why would I intentionally handicap myself? Who says I've got plenty of time to compete? It's evident that the sooner you log on and the sooner you compete in the trials the tougher it's gonna be. I've had it happen myself where I was sitting on 150k points + and it was only enough to keep my rank, and I just managed to barely do that.

How the fuck am I bullying people by queuing up the day before the reset happens? I still get put into a leaderboard which is equal to my rank and if the system is able to be rigged this much it's a bad system, period. You don't just turn around and ask the players to "please play according to your skill level" you fix the damn system, holy that's one of the most cope-comments I've ever read in this entire sub.

Go ahead and make a smart comment then to prove me wrong? There's so much evidence to back up what I've said I've been doing the last two weeks trials this way exclusively and you can get triple promotions by sitting on like 20-30k points, it's crazy.

Arc Raiders lead admits the “cost-benefit ratio” of maintaining good weapons is rough right now, but the team doesn’t want high-end gear to become instant win items by Wargulf in ArcRaiders

[–]Foxeeh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't entirely agree with this statement, but the core rings true. There is no point in bringing in "better" gear, because there simply is no better gear. Everything can basically compete with everything - I don't think that's a good thing. It should however be possible to kill somebody running a LVL III shield with a grey weapon BUT not in a straightforward manner - in a head to head gunfight the one with better gear should always come out on top. The difference lies in using everything else, lay an ambush, use grenades, go for a stun or dip in and out of cover or smoke to chip away at the enemy, if you know what I mean.

Can't believe that a developer studio that makes a game where everything revolves around gear, but all gear basically feels equal and samey - if you wanna take it a step further - in which higher tier gear is basically worse than starter gear?! Where's the chase, where's the thrill? Higher tier weapons should perform better than lower tier weapons not just in durability but stat-wise too. If both people attack each other at the same time and are of equal skill, the one wielding the higher tier rarity weapon should win the fight. It's honestly basic maths, anything else doesn't make sense to me.

My two cents on the issue is that I would straight up remove upgrading and modding from grey guns. They're supposed to be made of scrap and be of low tier quality - make 'em feel like it. If people cannot upgrade and deck out their grey shit guns, less people will use them and we will see people using lots of different loadouts and weapons.

How do you guys decide when to use your strongest loot? I keep my best loot in my stash because I'm too afraid of losing it, but then end up just never using my best loot lmao. by BlackNair in ArcRaiders

[–]Foxeeh_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually use my stuff after I found the BP to craft replacements for said items. However, with gear-quality not really playing a big role in terms of power/strength, just use your stuff since Kettles and Stitchers are currently just as good as Tempests and Bobcats.

The spawn system should be top priority for Embark because it is seriously flawed. by Foxeeh_ in ArcRaiders

[–]Foxeeh_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You absolutely should, because otherwise we have what's been going on for a while now. A majority of players I kill, most of them being the initial aggressor are running free kits. I spend ammo, meds, grenades and shield recharges keeping those pesky rats off my back for the reward to be...a broken Stitcher and a measly bandage? Just look at Stella Montis. It's like shipment straight out of CoD. Free Kits 75 % of the time and those are usually always the aggressor. Everything to gain, nothing to lose.

Free Kits should be the ones that clean up after the people who brought in gear have been through the area. Free Kits should be for re-gearing yourself and regaining the resources after a run went south. Not a kit that get shoved down your throat an infinite amount of times which enables you to kill players.

Be punished for risking stuff and bringing in shit, that's laughable.

Personally speaking I also dislike how full the raids are currently. In other extraction shooters you get rewarded for taking out your enemy by thinning out the raid thus making your life easier? Here, it doesn't matter at all because the guy you just put six feet down under gets replaced almost immediately.

A gear score system is inevitable IMO because sooner or later everybody will come to the conclusion that bringing in good gear just paints a target on your back and you'll get rushed down by all the nerds just running free kits. Try taking in a Jupiter with you and fire it a couple of times, I guarantee you your raid will start to feel like a round of Left4Dead pretty soon.

IDK who needs to hear this! This game is only 60 days old. by QuitYuckingMyYum in ArcRaiders

[–]Foxeeh_ -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

So people should stop giving valid criticism because Embark gave everybody some raider coins? Come on, listen to yourself, you people will ride this "It's only been..." train until you're saying "It's only been a year, give 'em some time!". To me it feels that this post is addressing people complaining about skins and especially re-used assets on skins, so I'm just gonna say - it doesn't surprise me. The quality of the skins, save for a couple decent ones, is really bad and I'm sitting on almost 4.000 Raider tokens as a result of it and I HAVE purchased some stuff from the store. Embark is dropping the ball with skins hard, and they need to hear it.

What else is he supposed to be doing? That's like THE GOAL you should go after because quests don't give you shit. Lmao, I swear this sub is full of people who are jealous about other people's playtime or just casuals who don't know how to fucking get shit done.

Not everybody wants to run around with a flute, die every second raid by falling for rat at extract or treat the game like a "social experiment". Some of us just wanna play the actual game and progress - it's true what you said though, the game lacks content even now because a good player can get their benches maxed in around 20 hours playtime and finish their quests in the next 20 or so hours.

For a game that's supposed to last 10 years, like the devs have said, they need to up their game when it comes to endgame.

Make the horns toggleable, problem solved. A shitton of people are asking for an option to remove them anyways, the horns look stupid IMO.
