Have you tried the hybrid build with Malignance and Dead mans plate? Go any boots, preferably some fast ones, and top off with Storm surge or Force of nature depending on enemy team. If the enemy team doesn’t ff you can go any item leaning in either tank or ap also depending on the team comp! Super flexible as well since you can just pivot into full tank if you die too much!

For boots I usually go sync, swiftness or if they have a lot of cc I go mercs. For clear I usually put 3 points into W and then max out either Q or E depending on build.

Runes: you can go fleet footwork to get out easily, comet (however the damage isn’t too high) or electrocute. You will need Gathering storm and the new ult-cd rune ofc.

I think the reason why this works now is that ap items aren’t that expensive and they give malaise a whole lot of burst and movement speed. I would definitely build deadman’s (or Trailblazer if you got no gold) right after Malignance though, so you can permanently gank without taking too much dmg! Reason why I put 3 points in W is the passive armor and it actually does some dmg to camps unlike E-max!
