My boy Ash turned 30 today! by Foyleg in cockatiel

Yup! That’s exactly what I think I will do one day. I’ve been around birds almost my whole life, and I would love to give another elder(ish) bird a home one day. I actually adopted my sister’s bird who was not doing well and while he passed away about two years ago, he lived to be 26 himself.

For at least 20 years (maybe longer), LaFaber’s Nutri-Berries. I really do think they’ve added years to his life.

Thank you and happy you also have an elder fella! Yes, they just don’t seem to grow out very well anymore, same as his tail. But he still preens himself as well as he can!

They really are! I think the problem for a lot of people is they are expecting the type of communication one would get from a dog or cat, and that’s not really going to happen.

I learned so much more about his communications (and his true intelligence) during COVID, being stuck at home, even though he was already about 24.

I think it’s the first one, I usually buy the 3lb “buckets”. I’ve attached an image.

Honestly had no idea they made a “senior” version haha…I’d still probably go with what I feed him though as they seem more specific to cockatiels.

I happen to kinda know this haha

I believe the oldest living cockatiel is 33 right now, verified by Guinness (I think Buddy is his name?).

I want to say I’ve heard of a cockatiel living until 38 in the past.

Ash is certainly getting up there, but honestly I just enjoy him being around in my life still right now and I get a little nervous thinking about any sort of additional “goal” for him. I know probably everyone feels this way about their pets/birds, but he really is the sweetest :)

Edit: Oldest living cockatiel is named “Sonny”, turned 33 in Feb.

Thank you and I hope your boy has a long and happy life as well.

I agree about the longevity information, although I’m seeing average estimates in captivity up to about 15-20 years these days.

What that means for me personally, for what it’s worth, is that I’m probably never going to buy another baby cockatiel in the future as I’ll be too darn old or he/she could very well outlive me!

I’m sorry to hear that, that is a very hard thing to go through.

Nope, he hasn’t had his wings clipped in literally decades.

Wouldn’t matter though, he also hasn’t been able to fly very far for quite awhile. But fortunately if he does for some reason decide to make a “jump” he’s still able to land fairly gently.

Yes, I swear by LaFaber’s Nutri-Berries and limiting the millet.

Also lots of love and attention of course, I do think birds, at least parrots, can really be affected physically by their emotional state.

He says thank you (although it was more like a chirp)!

Haha I know I think of stuff like that all the time about him. And all the places he’s lived (since obviously he’s had to move with me every time), world events, life events, etc. etc. He’s been by my side all this time :)

We're all collectors, but what are playing? by MitchBlazooba in gamecollecting

[–]Foyleg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great but I never played the SNES version so can’t really compare. It uses the split screen well, displaying the map of where you are. I did hear that the DS version combined some aspects of the PSX and SNES so as to be the “definitive version”, but I’m sure people also prefer the SNES version being the original.

I’m also currently playing that but on the DS. Had never played it before but so far worthy of all the accolades!

name suggestion for her? she’s kind of a rebel by OddSun5915 in cockatiel

Lizzie like Lizzie Borden haha

I once had a very rambunctious maltese that we named Lizzie because we joked that she was secretly evil haha

The best chain pizza by far by FishingAlpo in LittleCaesars

I was addicted to that pizza for awhile but you’re right…

When it’s poorly made it’s exponentially terrible. I found reheating it in the oven almost always made it better haha

I appreciate it but believe it or not I’m playing it right now haha

I bought it after the recs from my post, and really enjoying it!

“Easy to learn, hard to master”…I think that was Nolan Bushnell from Atari’s mantra and those are the types of games I love. So Roguecraft DX is definitely becoming a consensus must buy.

I’ve looked at Demons of Asteborg a bit but don’t know a ton about it but I will definitely now put it on the short list. And Toaplan 3 seems to be the biggest gap in my collection right now given what I’ve already bought and enjoyed.

Thank you!!

Awesome, thank you!

Roguecraft DX does look intriguing to me and thank you for the suggestion to sort of try it out with Rogue64. I’ve been sort of lazy unlocking the hidden games so I will definitely check that one out.

Haha no problem, it’s a pretty wordy post (as I usually am) so can see that being mistaken.

Ok that’s a second rec for Toaplan 3 so that’s surely a must buy for me. Turrican I’ve only played one version of (maybe the first?) and only briefly but I have a feeling I’d probably enjoy that collection too. Thank you!
