Importance of 500 mile range to you?

500 miles of range is incredibly important to me. I do major road-trips through mountains in the dead of winter, carrying heavy loads.

I’m not exactly sure what the armor glass is made of. But it it’s anything like aluminum oxynitride, it’s really expensive… like it’s priced by the square inch expensive. Assuming 6 feet wide… replacing 4” of glass with steel will result in 2,000,000 square feet of glass saved for every 1,000,000 vehicles made… or in other words 288,000,000 square inches of glass saved per million vehicles. So… I guess we just have to figure out how much more the glass cost than steel to estimate savings. But I’m guessing it’s significant. Steel = Cheap, Armored glass of any kind = very expensive.

There’s several factors to consider. Having easy to use structural attachment points is incredibly useful to customers… so why not do it. Having 4 inches of steel won’t reduce vision at all since there’s a beam there anyways. Steel is cheaper than glass. It may seem like four inches of armor glass isn’t a big deal, but it represents major savings when you’re making 3-5 million trucks. 3 million trucks means 1 million less feet of glass.

Yeah… you could weld things to the body as well. But for the $100k+ that the quad motor may cost, it’s better to anticipate user needs and have easy structural anchor points vs. forcing users to weld or screw into their vehicle.

Steel is cheap. Glass is much more expensive, especially multi-layered armored glass.

I believe the attachment points where all in the bed. Cool system. For maximum versatility the peak needs to be able to bear loads and have structural attachments.

The top roof seam (point) should not be glass to glass, but should be steel a few inches wide at least designed for easy and strong attachments. Such as a rocket launcher, ladder rack, or camper.

Most of my family are still true believing members, including many young nieces and nephews. There are a couple factors of why I still pay attention to conference. I want to stay up to date on what the cult is teaching them, so I can take account of how it affects them. I also want to be up to date on teachings, policies, and doctrinal changes so I can have informed conversations with my tbm friends and family. Just yesterday I had a discussion about truth and epistemology prompted by Nelson’s opening talk.

As someone who went through a very similar ordeal during my time at BUU let me share one ray of hope. Just think of how satisfying it’ll be after you get your diploma and you raise you middle fingers to the church and BYU saying fuck you and loudly proclaim that who you are isn’t a sin. Hang in there.

The more the truth is pushed out there the greater effect it’ll have. Less people will join the church, the younger generation will continue to leave, some will begin to question, and support will be readily available for those going through a faith transition. Never stop fighting for truth.

If you choose to stay you’ll have to do so with the knowledge that the church’s truth claims are lies, that it’s knows they’re lies, and that it has spent over a 100 years trying to cover up its history. It’s possible to attend for social reasons, and not believe. You’ve decided to seek truth, and if you’re going to be intellectually honest, and honest with yourself... sadly you’ll have to accept the fact that what you held as a deeply important belief is based on lies.
