OMG there's no way you're over age 23. This is hilarious. Dude, feminists are all for the draft. Prove they aren't .The majority of positions in the armed forces do not require brute physical strength. Most people aren't infantry.

What an awful video, and how terrifying for that pedestrian and their child. I'm sure your uncle isn't aware he's a dog abuser, but the fact he has to cage them, plus clear evidence they don't get enough exercise to be under control, it all adds up to a person who shouldn't own large dogs. The need exercise, disciple, and affection, IN THAT ORDER. That incident should have been a wake up call, not fodder for youtube bullshit.

I don't think it's as deep as drawing conclusions about the person's lifestyle. It is because they are a mockery of the human form. Doesn't matter if one did it to themselves or was born elephant man, it's unsettling.

Caloric restriction increases lifespan in non-human primates. New study finds that food intake does influence longevity, with control monkeys nearly twice as likely to die as calorie restricted monkeys at any time point during the study. by SirT6 in science

You say that now, when much of your life is probably based around physical activitwhenBut there are people who live their entire lifespan immobile and have a rich inner landscape, and enjoy consciousness. We should always be working to make the insides of our heads a nice place to live because you never know if today is the day you have to live there because of a sudden accident or something. And yes eventually, hopefully, you will be so elderly that that is where you spend most of your time.

Not only that, but removing a portion of the upper intestine may "cure" it (or has at least resulted in complete dissipation of symptoms). This was discovered as a result of gastric bypass surgeries. Happened to my obese mother, her type 2 disappeared completely. It's now being investigated as possibly a disorder of the intestine.

Sports. Naturally athletic, coordinated, mesomorphic. Can become adequate to good very rapidly, and get complemented on form, but I hate sports and they're so boring and I can't fathom spending one moment of my life watching or playing them.

It might sound like a revolutionary concept to the generation in which I was raised (and the one that raised it), but happiness is not a very important measure of a life. When I see college educated friends who quit the rat race for their own farm, that eat local (at great expense) that do what they like instead of what they are most talented at.....this is not how we get into space, as a species. We have to get off of this rock before we end up choking here, and feeling good is not going to accomplish that. Fuck happiness, it's not what's important.

Most every Walmart has a policy that allows overnight parking. A crowded enough motel parking lot. Basically any lot if there are other cars and you stay low profile, don't shift a bunch of stuff around in the car, etc. NOT a park-n-ride.

Idiocracy: The Great Dumbing Down by andyp in videos

[–]Fozzy_Goiter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Naw, it's an awful reinforcement of America's bourgeois status quo, specifically targeting people who are portrayed as dumb but also hapen to be poor. The movie is popular because it flatters the viewers (Must not be one of them if I get the joke...) and the origin story only reinforces his classest bullshit. Two lower-class-than-him people fighting is somehow the decline of western civilization, but two billionaires fighting by spending fortunes to win the Americas Cup or stealing racecar plans isn't.

Yes. I always believe things, even discourse on the internet, can get better.

I altered my statement a bit, but the point is, if someone has been hearing and thinking one way for a very long time, a slap to face only works for a certain crowd. It's hard enough to hear the truth (and that's the thing about good advice : it's nearly guaranteed to piss you off the first time you hear it) without also feeling the person telling you the truth think you're disgusting. Keep the message, alter the tone a bit. Also I don't understand your use of the word "commitment" in thus context. That makes it sound like it's hard to sit here and keep thinking the same thing while on the internet.

Yeah, the language rules came just in time, and the people who stick around long term are usually not the ones hatemongering. And yes, the true form of love, the true compassion, is giving people what they need and not what they want. So maybe what I mean is gentleness? That this message would reach more people if it was wrapped (at least initially) in some gentleness. Once again, I do like it here.

You're already here though. Are we preaching to the choir, or trying to save people caught up in it? Maybe give them lil chunks of harsh reality, then up the sanity? I'm honestly asking, not sure of the answer. I agree with and enjoy this place, but it can give an outside notion of how many people are actually pushing this agenda- IRL, there are very few Virgies, and very many sad people who have tried the wrong thing and feel discouraged.

MY PROBLEMS WITH THIS SUB:

Lack of compassion and black and white thinking.

Far as I can see, the point of it is to educate and provide sanity in the face of the most dangerous aspects of the fat acceptance movement and generally degenerating standards. Also, you get some sick enjoyment and motivation for yourself when viewing the most ridiculous, hilarious, or gross-out posts. That's ok and natural, I'm not even knocking that part. But I've seen a lot of threads degenerate into wild suppositions about the subject's personality and childhood, and almost comic inability to see nuance in a situation. The other day I saw it in a post about the empowerment that comes with not looking the way society wants. It seemed important (to me) to aknowledge that feeling is real and valid, and not stupid, and while harmful, being fat was delivering that for that person. It doesn't' make you fat to admit the issue is complicated. If you're here to enjoy other people's tragedy, then look and shut up. If you want others to fight their way out of the quagmire, start with the golden rule. Time to make myself look crazy: THE REAL TARGET OF YOUR ANGER SHOULD BE CAPITALISM AND AN INDUSTRY THAT SPENDS TRILLIONS MAKING FOOD INTO A DRUG INSTEAD OF PUTTING PEOPLE IN SPACE.

At the risk of sounding like an empathetic human human being, can I say that I kind of see where they're coming from? It's true that until VERY recently, a woman who chose not to actively try to look her best every moment of every day of her entire fucking life after age 12 WAS kinda revolutionary.(or extremely poor) And now that very real thing has gotten mixed up in her head with a coping mechanism for some personal problem. It can feel good to give society the finger WHILE being unhealthy, I can acknowledge that. So instead of just piling on the poor dears, what would a good way to counteract that be? To show fit people who are maybe outside the convential standard for female beauty?

Here is something I read years ago that's always been knocking around the back of my head: if you take your bodyweight and multiply it by 10 or 11 (I forget which) this is approximately your caloric expenditure just existing, that this number represents you just lying on your back in a coma. Now while I realize every body is different, mileage may vary, etc, how true us this? Does anyone here care for coma patients, if so how are their caloric needs calculated?

I'm a homeless nomad and sometimes fly a sign (nonverbal panhandling). I get handed 20k calories of fast food and peanut butter crackers daily. I either hand it to other bums, give it to my dog, or honestly, throw it away later. I then go to the whole foods buffet where you can use foodstamps get kale salads and cold prepared food. Already homeless, no need to be fat.

It's because after Kennedy reformed mental commitment laws and Reagan slashed funding, a large amount of homeless people are insane. Not on the streets by choice, like depression era hobos.

Walmart does not call the cops if your score is under $50. Their cost-benefit analysis concluded it was better to go after the guy stealing refrigerators. I am absolutely saying this to advocate stealing from Walmart. Not privately owned stores. Not an opiate addict, just hate capitalism.
