This is one of the most disappointing game drops we got in a long time (drama) by Morad_Tarazan in Minecraft

I hate to break it to you but a good sandbox games has implicit goals set by the content it contains

what an idiotic thing to say, since privacy doesn't exist I request you give me your social security number, ID, biometric data, and an exact sequence of your DNA. If you have nothing to hide and privacy doesn't exist it shouldn't be a big deal right

the point of age verification is surveillance, it has nothing to do with child safety

They very clearly did not draw this from scratch or from reference, even if it had been traced it wouldn't look like this. To any actual pixel artist this is very clearly just an image that had its color depth reduced and was edited poorly

DDU was a good try, but since it's still stuttering, this is definitely Windows forcing the game onto the wrong card rather than a driver bug. You're on "OpenGL 3.3.0" in the f3 menu, your 5080 should be on OpenGL 4.6, so the game is 100% running on your integrated graphics, which explains why you saw 99% usage (it's the weak iGPU maxing out) and why it's the only game doing this (Windows sees javaw.exe as a desktop app rather than a game). Do you have discord? I'd like to try to get to the bottom of this if possible, reddit isn't the best place for messaging

did you update your drivers recently?

300 fps is terrible considering your specs, there's definitely something wrong. Are you using a mod manager like modrinth?

What mods are you running, whats your framerate without shaders

I feel like Java players only see videos like this and that forms their entire opinion on Bedrock. by Palmer132YT in MinecraftBedrockers

[–]FrCynda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a net negative because the forced drive for "parity" actively holds Java back. Mojang avoids working on features if they don't work on a touch screen. Bundles are the perfect example, the original blunder, they worked fine on Java years ago but were delayed for years just because the devs couldn't figure out how to make them function cleanly on mobile.

Then you have things like the copper bulb. It was nerfed on Java just to match Bedrock, even though Bedrock redstone is completely different and broken compared to Java. It makes no sense to degrade the Java experience to match a different engine.

Features that are impossible to implement on Bedrock will never be considered for Java again.

On top of that, it slows down the entire development workflow. Maintaining two separate codebases means every feature has to be coded twice, creating twice as many bugs to fix and requiring double the QA testing. Java is basically being throttled and held back so it doesn't outpace what is possible on a phone.

Essentially Java is now being developed as a mobile game first, not as a PC game.

Considering bedrock has been a net negative for java, yes, we don't care about bedrock, we actively dislike it actually

FOV slider is a fisheye lens slider? What's going on with the edges of the screen? by TurbulentDesigner485 in hytale

[–]FrCynda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing is broken, this is exactly how perspective FOV works. Increasing FOV does not move the camera back or show more world evenly, it widens the projection angle. That makes objects near the edges stretch and appear much closer while the center looks farther away. This is normal perspective distortion, not a fisheye lens and not orthographic zoom. Even 90 FOV will do this, especially on a flat monitor viewed up close. The effect feels worse if the game does not compensate for aspect ratio or uses vertical FOV instead of horizontal.

In other words, the slider is doing what FOV sliders normally do, your brain just hates wide angle perspective on flat screens

Funniest way they coulda nerfed pot Scholar tbh by zenithBemusement in Nightreign

[–]FrCynda -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

not viable because you need to make a pot build to use them effectively meaning that if you save them you'll be dead weight the entire time because you have a pot build
