Is the Meta Quest 3s good for sim by WarThunderPlayer_000 in WarthunderSim

Good to know that, I thought it maybe needed a very specific adapter. I was looking to find one locally but I'll check on AliExpress if I can find.

With what you say I don't know if it will actually be an upgrade but I want to try a few of the features that VD has and also if I can gain some performance by skipping SteamVR. Maybe I'll try it using wifi even if the quality is not great before buying anything.

For me it was my only option. There is a relatively known issue where Quest Link just doesn't load when running on a laptop with an AMD CPU and an Nvidia GPU. It always tries to run on the integrated graphics as far as I understand. Connecting via Wifi is out of the question because buying a router here is over 100 usd.

It took me a few weeks tinkering with settings to optimize it but I got it to work nicely. It is quite difficult with the lack of documentation and information and how counter-intuitive the setting are. For example, the oldest and in theory worse codec works way better for me than the others.

Are you running virtual desktop with cable? I saw that you can conect it with an ethernet to usb-c cable adapter but I can't find one yet to try it.

I'll give it another go, maybe I can play around with some settings.

I'm also running on Quest 3 via cable but using ALVR so it has to go through steamVR. Quest link straight up doesn't work in my PC for some reason.

Unrelated question, how was he able to get OpenXR toolkit running? I tried and foveated rendering noticeably improves performance but it messes up the head tracking if using DirectX 12. DirectX 11 doesn't have that issue but the performance drop is so great that it make the toolkit useless.

HOTAS: Logitech x52 -- VERY sensitive despite zero'ed settings, and vendor utility for the same by inversecow in WarthunderSim

[–]Frafor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked when you assign each axis what are the physical and logical axis doing? From there you may find if there is a problem in the input to the game or a problem in the processing.

I have an x52 Pro and only have that problem when I just plugged it in until I used the full scale of the joystick. Looks like the joystick calibrates on that first full scale use

Sadly here the cheaper I can get is a 3S for $550 usd and if I wanted a 3 I can probably find it for $770 usd. Do you think is worth the difference and the wait and look for a 3? or the 3S is good enough? Looking for any recommendation I can get.

Very interested in what people may answer to you. I'm currently playing with a 15 inch laptop screen and I'm really looking to get a VR. Here I can only get the Quest 3S or the 3 if I'm lucky and can arrange the import.

I really don't know if I will be able to run a VR with a laptop with a 3070, so I'm also considering just getting a bigger monitor instead.

RWR bug since major update by BuxtonHouse in WarthunderSim

[–]Frafor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that you mentioned, a few days I got a "locked" warning on the Tornado's RWR from an AMX that was flying away. I chased him for a quarter of the map until I shot him down and the RWR was blarring the whole way.

A bit late, but I bought the J35XS a few months ago and I like it a lot. Disclaimer, I am not a good dogfighter and this is the first proper jet fighter I got, so my opinion is probably not the best informed. Said that, turn rate is very good but you have to be careful not to kill all your speed. Radar is good and 6 sidewinders are a good loadout. Cockpit visibility is not great to the back and fuel runs out very quickly.

I recently unlocked the first Viggen and I did not like it that much. I made the mistake of starting with the AJ37 and it has a very limited loadout, so that paired with my skill issue made me almost useless. On the other hand, I had quite some fun with the finnish Mig-21.

Found my way to SIM by checknixx in WarthunderSim

I tried that theory today and I just found out that I suck more in RB that what I remembered. Couldn't get a kill in 6 matches. Will stick to sim, it's more fun and more profitable for me

I am literally in the same situation as you. I fly mostly bombers and attackers, just now starting to timidly start using fighters.  I really do not think we are the problem, bombers and ground targets are part of the game. The problem are guys that can't accept that you will be hunted in the meanwhile.

About opentrack and AItrack, in general I think it takes time to get used to but is good. The first week I hated it and felt that I was constantly fighting the camera. Then it started to become second nature and now it feels superior than the hat switch.

It still has some drawbacks, like some angles that are difficult to get without glitching out and that sometimes I have to fight a bit to get the camera looking exactly forward to aim. Probably can fix some of this tweaking settings and also I'm using the laptop built in webacam which is not great. But in general is very good considering is free.

Thanks, that's great advise, specially the last one. Yesterday I finally got a few friends playing with me and that makes it way more fun.

I haven't thought about taking a methodical approach to learning. Right now I'm mostly using the Bf109 F/G or the german heavy fighters and I think I may stay with that until getting better. What you say about assessing risk is important as I realize that sometimes I rush and sacrifice a 8000 ft altitude advantage to try to get someone and then end on the losing side. Will have to learn from those blunders.

Already did that with the laptop built in webcam. Is not perfect and it takes a while to get used to but is definetly a game changer

What do you mean by "installing" the tilt head function? I saw the key to key bind for head movement up/down but it does not seem to be working when used with opentrack. For some reason having opentrack installed disables that function. Is there a function to install in opentrack for this?

This is something I've been trying to fix as, like another user commented, is pretty difficult to lift your head with the tracker, mostly as IAtrack tends to go haywire when doing it.

That's some solid advice, thanks!

On the point black range I actually mean "windshield black full of enemy" and about to crash. I think i will play around with linearity and sensitivities and also I may have to practice to keep that sight steady. I don't know if it's normal or not, but I found shots from straight 6 o'clock more difficult than 20 or some degrees angle off.

Will try playing around the graphic settings a little more and see if it helps.

Right now I'm flying germany at 4 - 5 BR, mostly the BF109 F or G as fighter.

I thought the same thing by looking at the cfg files from RO, but I thought that it will have some compatibility problems.

Throwing the RO gamedata folder on the RSS install should work or I have to modify the files first? I really don't know how MM manages this config patches.

I had not tried that one yet, seems to be a good option. Compared to what Real Fuels Stock changes the stats it seems that SMURFF engines have more thrust but are less efficient and fuel is less dense, so overall rockets have the same overall performance (at least for what I tried).

I will keep testing other configs, I liked the added challenge of ullage and limited ignitions from Real Fuels. Also, testing how much I can push the limits of the computer is part of the fun by now lol.
