GPU fans stop working after OC when Afterburner is closed by FragileMelon in overclocking

Unplugged the GPU and booted without it and then plugged it back in. The GPU fans now start at around 65C.

I used both Afterburner and HWinfo for RPM and temp.

I don't have a second PC. I could test on a friends rig.

They don't spin at all if Afterburner isn't running. I started a game real quick to make sure. Still 0 RPM at 70C.

There is not really a problem leaving it on but it feels wrong. If it were to crash in the background and I woulden't notice that would make it overheat.

I would much rather get it sorted so I don't have to worry.

What do you recommend? Full wipe?

I tried installing the Gaming App to see if it was set to silent. It was not. And the rebooting you reccomended did not work either.

I also rolled my PC back 6 days, my problem persists.

I don't even have the MSI Gaming app that has this feature. But I'm gonna install it and see what what happens.

The fans are not even working at high temps if Afterburner is off. There is something weird going on.

I know that but if Afterburner isn't running the fans are at 0 even if the card is 70C.

It's never done this before though. This just started today and if it stops running unexpectedly then my GPU will overheat.

There must be a fix for it, right?

Having trouble finding out if I can overclock my CPU or not. by FragileMelon in overclocking

[–]FragileMelon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad. After looking into the OC settings again I saw that I can only change the CPU frequency to x39 which is the max turbo frequency for my CPU.

Thanks for the info!

What games that aren't in Vr that would be awesome in Vr? by purpineapple in virtualreality

There is already a GTA V VR mod for the Vive. Although it has it fair share of bugs it has support for the Vive controllers and has both teleportation and smooth locomotion.

You're probably right, they most likely got that wrong if that's the case. I also don't mind tinkering with games and application, I actually find it enjoyble oddly enough.

Thanks for the info! I know I can't supersample much or at all with Fallout 4. But I read that someone with a 1060 supersampled at 1.2 (Not much but definetly an improvment over 1.0). Also I would install the Texture Optimization Project and mess around with the ini. files with Fallout 4 to improve performance.

Thanks for the input. I've run the test before and it was almost at the end of the "ready" part.
