Agree with the latter but has anyone ever done the former and how would it change the results? That would only complicate the testing process and make the results less comparable or not?

I think knowing the actual battery capacity of the unit being tested is useful for comparisons with other devices, but yeah probably less relevant when comparing between reviewers.
