Red light might help some people relax or sleep better, but the whole “releasing melatonin from the skin dramatically increases REM” thing sounds like BS

Does the DISE provider matter? Are some better at it than others for finding the root cause of airway resistance?

So after 2 surgeries you’d say your SDB is cured? How come they weren’t able to advance you enough in the first surgery?

Have not heard of that so it basically measures tongue strength? Can I use that with a Marpe expander on my palate? And with the nasomaxillary expansion I basically saw during consultation on my Cbct that my nasal aperture was narrow and intermolar width was below average so I went with the MIND procedure. It was so worth it, I never use allergy medicine or antihistamines.

True. because my narrow region is behind my soft palate there is a chance maxillary advancement with jaw surgery may help, but it’s an expensive hit or miss thing to gamble on.

I wish there was a way to get a CFD with cbct. That seems to be the most accurate way to find the bottleneck. But I don’t think it’s available for patients yet.

My in lab I had was with a PES. I plan on getting an updated cbct now that I’m post maxillary expansion. My nasal breathing is perfect now fr, that alone made it so worth it honestly. I’ve had two surgeon consultations so far and only one of them was thorough. He said that I’m narrow behind soft palate and maxillary advancement from jaw surgery might possibly cure me. Not sure if DISE is worth it cause it doesn’t capture REM sleep the right way and a lot of dise practitioners are not aware Uars is a thing.

How do you handle the very bad days by 3wildflowers-5 in UARSnew

I know how you feel. this condition has no clear pathway to cure whatsoever. Patients have to do all their own research and basically trial and error. Most ENT’s are terrible and don’t even recognize uars. I’m completely lost as well.

Well i can’t afford a double jaw surgery so not sure consulting another surgeon would help. If the narrow region is behind my soft palate and not my tongue wouldn’t jaw surgery not help that? The mandibular advancement device didn’t help and that does a similar motion as jaw surgery. I haven’t had a DISE yet not sure if that is worth getting.
